    • I hear Duke and UNC are very high on Grayson Allen (Jacksonville), another 6'4 SG with hops. And Duke has started recruiting Devin Booker, 6'4 sharp shooter..

And I was told Allen and Booker will play on the same AAU team... 2015 PG Lemonte Turner is expected to play PG (Huntsville, Sparkman) for the same team, so expect his stock to rise over the summer,,,

Mr Gold- Kinda OT but what kind of college interest is Riley Norris from Albertville receiving? I saw him play the other day and he looked like a solid player. Very skilled for 6'7.

Did not expect them to lose to Grissom.. I was hoping to watch him at Jacksonville St.

I don't know much about Norris. It's been a couple of years since I've seen him play. He was too slow to guard the perimeter at that time. He can shoot it and seems pretty solid in other areas.

I see Au and Arkansas have offered..

Yea I went up and watched the Grissom game, thats when i saw him, then Grissom gave Lee a run for their money. Grissom is playing some good basketball right now. Bo Coln knows how to get it done. They play @ Clay-Chalkville Friday and I like their chances to advance.

    • A lot of times, landing a kid like this can be a program changer for a program like Bama. All it takes is convincing that ONE game changer to commit, and they can inject some life into the program for several years, make it more appealing for yet other players to come. Our chances are probably slim, but man it'd be nice to land this kid.

at Clay will be tough... Clay's PG (Hasaan) is a Eric Bledsoe clone, without the hops. Clay is a short team, but have about 4 kids that play above the rim at 6'0 or 6'1).. if they win, Mountain Brook would be next.. Good match-up. I would whether face MB on a neutral court instead of Clay at Clay (similar trapping style)

Yea I have seen Clay a few times this year. Hassan is very good and only a sophomore too I believe. Grissom has some good size and I think that could give Clay a lot of trouble as long as they take care of the ball. IMO Grissom is a bad matchup for Clay, but they are at home so we'll see.

Talent is way down in the state this year and has been the past couple...are you talking about anyone in particular that is in our backyard that we are not recruiting?

Pipe dream.....a snowball's chance in hell might be more abt way to put it. Anyone who's just chomping at the bit to get an offer from NC or Duke isn't going to give a football dominated school any chance in hell.

      They dominated the 4th quarter.

      Turned a 2-point game into a 17-point blow out.

Yea I know I was there. But part of the reason for the lopsided score was bc Grissom was forced to come out of the zone they were playing and forced to pick up full court. They can't match up with Clay man to man, but that was their only chance once they got down by 6 or 8. 17 point win was a little deceiving IMO.

    • Mr Gold do you know of any interest that 2015 PG Josh Thomas out of Montgomery Academy is getting? He's averaged over 20 points per game the past two seasons as a freshman and sophomore, i figured he'd be getting some looks by now.

    • I have to disagree with some of the comments here. The guy made the trip to Tuscaloosa, and that is saying something. It may be part of the recruiting game that some guys like to play, however it can only be positive.

Also, Coach Grant can recruit 5-stars like him by telling him that he can come in and be 'The Guy'. Recruits love to hear that. Everyone complains about this teams inability to score, and this guy is probably intrigued with the fact that we don't really have a bigtime scorer. If we added a bigtime scorer, the other guys on our team are PERFECT roll players that could combine for a big march madness run.

With the SEC's money and TV contracts, these players get hooked up bigtime by consistently playing on ESPN in the national spotlight, and playing against teams like Kentucky that get so much media attention only benefits our players. The SEC is also a bad conference this year, and recruits love to play against ok teams, win a lot of games, and get tons of media spotlight for doing so. That's what we are doing this year and I guarantee TL and TR aren't going unnoticed for their efforts.

Plus, with the way CAG has our program looking, we're going to be a consistent tournament team. Next year I see no way we don't make the tournament and this year we are on the cusp.

Not to mention we are the number 2 team in the SEC right now and start two juniors and 3 sophomores...and have one senior on the roster...

I agree. It's a long shot, but not an impossibility. It's like the anti-Bama football affect for us. Every once in a while, Bama football misses out on an elite recruit simply due to the fact that some of these guys are intrigued by getting a chance to blaze their own path and come in and make an immediate impact. He'd definitely be able to make an immediate impact for us.

      gcfella

    • Also regarding the state of our team...a lot of people may disagree, but I actually think we're making progress. Let's be honest, with what we lost with Green and Mitchell, we don't have a supremely talented team. We can want these guys to be elite, but the truth is they're not. They have tons of potential though, and they're only sophmores. Everyone talks about having the one and done players vs having a veteren laden team full of juniors and seniors...IE the Butlers...etc. Well, until we start landing these elite players, like THIS kid, we're looking to be headed towards being dependent on 3-4yr players...and our players just simply aren't there yet.

We can talk about how bad the SEC is all we want, but we're 2nd place and that's not an easy task. We are NOT an easy outing for teams (EDIT: except that Florida always seems to kick our teeth in...just a bad matchup for us). They hate to play us. We beat them up and wear them down and have managed to find ways to win. And I'll be the first to admit, it's frustrating as f**k to watch sometimes. But I think the future is bright for this team. And if we can get a sprinkling of elite players like Hill occassionaly, mixed in with our soon-to-be experienced guys, we could be on to something.

A lot of you guys may disagree, but that's JMO.
