UA in top group for 2014 PF

Anthony Grant

Grant and Alabama offered Cofer following a productive start to his junior seson.

UA recently offered this 2014 Peach State power forward, who now holds the Crimson Tide in his top group of schools. Get inside for more on his interest level in the Tide.

    • I'm surprised Georgia is not on the list....... according to this report he can move around over the court with his offense...........how does he like playing defense............you have got to really like or buy into what Coach is teaching..........CAG works hard on full court coverage............He plays hard and hustles...........that sounds great.........thanks, Trevor..

    • CAG will need a couple of post players in the class of '14. Hopefully, CAG sees some of Larry Sanders type of potential in Cofer. Cofer wouldn't scare off a more highly rated post player either and thus allowing CAG to continue to try to secure another highly rated post player in the '14 class. Imo, with the '14 class, CAG needs to fill all 13 of his schollies, at the latest, I don't think he can pull that off this spring in the '13 class. The class of '14 is huge in terms of CAG's success at UA imo. Let's hope he and his staff can bring in a nationally ranked class, something similar to what he did in the class of '11 with Lacey, Randolph, Coop, Jacobs & Gueye. RTR!!!

I agree with you that I don't expect us to be back up to full roster after this recruiting class. Still a head scratcher for me that CAG would make that call last year, likely causing us to play short handed for 2 seasons.

Next year is so critical. Will be our best team during CAGs era. Coincides with his likely last chance to recruit back up to full strength.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out,

Btw I ave noticed he has done a few more radio interviews as of late. Maybe he's coming out of his shell on the media/ pr side

    • Do we have the big guys that can be developed or do we go after one this year?

I liked the play of MG and NJ in the last game. I thought they were the difference.

I didnt think he made a call as much as he struck out on the guys that were going to be able to contribute. He didnt want to waste a schollie on a player that was never going to play.

I don't think CAG thought Hankerson & Eblen were going to leave the program, which would have left us with 12 schollie players. I think CAG went all in on Willie Cauley and missed because Kensucky got in on him late and took him away late, similar to what happened to xCMG when Tubby got on Jodie Meeks late and took him as well. Meeks would have made a huge difference in xCMG's last few teams and Cauley would have made us an entirely different team this year. This is another reason I absolutely detest Kensucky hoops. RTR!!!

We signed two post players in the fall, that will be frosh in '13-'14, in Jimmie Taylor and Shannon Hale. Hale is more of a face-up 4 and Taylor is growing into a beast. We could have a lineups with combinations of Releford, Lacey, Randolph, Coop, Pollard with Hale & Taylor and really get after teams full court. For teams with true post players, we will still have Jacobs, Gueye & Engstrom to in the post as well. Hopefully, Hale & Taylor can come in and contribute right away. At the beginning of this season, I would have said they wouldn't be major contriubutors next year, but both seem to be really developing during their senior years and both might be able to come in a provide meaningful minutes. Let's hope so. RTR!!!

I'm excited to see Hale in Crimson next season. He's working his tail off to be able to earn minutes next year as a frosh.

    • I can see what you all are saying on the "true post player" but this kid at UT is 6-6 at best and with his build is a monster on the boards. Hell, Chris Hines would've made a big difference in this season.
