Lacy setback not considered major

Eddie Lacy at Alabama

BamaOnline has confirmed that while University of Alabama sophomore running back Eddie Lacy apparently sustained a pectoral injury while working out in the weight room Wednesday morning, it’s not considered a major setback and he's not expected to have surgery.

Lacy will continue to be evaluated.

Lacy had 56 carries for 406 yards and six touchdowns last season, and is expected to be junior Trent Richardson’s primary backup this year.

With freshman Dee Hart (knee) out and both Corey Grant and Demetrius Goode having transferred, among scholarship players the Crimson Tide is down to Richardson and sophomore Jalston Fowler at the position, with true freshman Brent Calloway due to report later this month and quarterback Blake Sims able to take some snaps as well.

Lacy had a career-best 13 carries for 111 yards and two touchdowns against San Jose State last season and also scored two touchdowns against Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl, from 62 and 12 yards. During the spring Lacy won the Johnny Musso Offensive Back Award.

The Crimson Tide will report for fall camp Aug. 4, and begin practices the following day.
