Sentimore, Green likely leaving

Darrington Sentimore at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA _ Sources have confirmed to BamaOnline that pending a final meeting with University of Alabama coaches next week both sophomore defensive lineman Darrington Sentimore and senior safety Robby Green will no longer be on the team.

Both departures are discipline related. Sentimore is thought to be interested in transferring to Miami.

Most of the coaching staff is on vacation this week, with Coach Nick Saban at his house in Lake Burton, Ga. The first session of summer classes is set to conclude next week, with the second session beginning after the July 4 holiday.

Green, from John Curtis Christian High School in New Orleans, was suspended for the 2010 season by the NCAA and did not participate in spring drills as Saban continued to describe his status as “suspended indefinitely.”

Green played in 26 games during the 2008-09 seasons, with six starts, and made 33 tackles. He broke up six passes and made an interception against LSU. Green led the Crimson Tide in 16 special-teams tackles during the 2009 season and had a career-high six tackles against Texas in the BCS National Championship Game against Texas.

Sentimore, from Destrehan High School in Norco, La., played in 11 games last season and made nine tackles with four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble against San Jose State. He was expected to challenge for more playing time this season, but as a reserve for the White Team during A-Day had a tackle, ½ for a loss, and a hurry.
