I think we go by only the AP All-American team when keeping count. Of course, I could just be completely making that up. We are over 100 now though because last I checked we said 97 on our newest intro video. I guess we can't go back to using jerseys in the intro video anymore. Thanks a lot guys, YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!!!

    • I'm glad for Mark. He's been kind of flying under the radar a little it seems relative to postseason accolades. He's put in 4 spectacular years at Bama. He's a legend.

I remember au recruiting him and telling him he could be the second coming of Darren McFadden at RB. Of course CNS told him why not be the first Mark Barron at DB? Worked pretty well cuz we're telling guys you can be the next Mark Barron at DB today. Not sure if anyone is mentioning DMac today. Funny how things work out when you make good decisions.

Sure we can.. a couple of the guys are just going to have to really bond before the video is taken

    • All of the guys are very deserving of any and all awards. They have put in a lot of sweat equity in their football career and it will be paying off financially for them in the very near future. I am so proud to see guys with their kind of talent, determination and discipline get rewarded for making the right decisions in life. Usually the people you read about in the headlines are the ones that make mistake after mistake and throw all that opportunity away. Well done and much appreciated.

    • Thanks Chris, so proud of these guys and their accomplishments. They've dedicated themselves to the program and fully invested in what CNS and their coaches preach.

There are 5 All-American teams that the NCAA recognizes. Those are the 5 Chris listed and if you make 1 you are an All-American.
If you make 3/5 you are a consensus AA and if you make all 5 you are unanimous AA. We may have just used AP All-Americans for the video if the number was below 100.
I didn't understand any of this until yesterday when I asked Chris about it. So, I figured I'd pass the info along since he works hard enough as it is.

I feel kinda bad for Dont'a and Upshaw. They were named in each of the 5 polls, but nobody would put both of them in the same one. So, essentially Dont'a kept Upshaw from being consensus/unanimous and Upshaw kept Dont'a from being unanimous.

    • Here's the wiki page about Alabama's All-Americans. It has this years AA's in it already, but hasn't updated consensus or unanimous yet.

Totals 103 AA players a total of 120 times, 47 (51 now) consensus and 18 (21 now) unanimous.
