Each week during the football season, we'll offer up our top 12 players on the Crimson Tide roster. Please note that this list isn't based solely on the previous week's performances. Instead, it's based on a number of factors, including season-long production.
Mosley moves to the top after a day spent chasing Manziel.
1.] LB CJ Mosley (last week: 2)
Texas A&M: Defensive player of the week honors from UA coaching staff after racking up 14 tackles and a sack against the Aggies. Forced A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel out of bounds short of a first down on a fourth down play in the second quarter.
Season to date: Leads the team in tackles with 83 stops, a total that outdistances his closest competitor (Trey DePriest) by 34 tackles. An eight-time recipient of player of the week honors from the UA coaching staff, Mosley is one of seven UA defenders to record an interception this season. Tied for second in sacks with three. In addition to the Bednarik Award, Mosley is a Butkus Award semifinalist.
2.] CB Dee Milliner (1)
Texas A&M: In a switch from the first nine games of the season, Milliner worked at the star position in the Crimson Tide's nickel package. Posted ten tackles, including a half tackle for loss, and a pass breakup in the loss. Coverage on A&M's lone touchdown in the final three quarters of the game was decent, but throw and catch were better. The junior checks in at No. 8 overall on Mel Kiper's latest big board for the 2013 NFL Draft.
Season to date: Leads the team in pass breakups (14), passes defended (16) and is one of six players to record multiple interceptions. Tied for second in FBS in passes defended at 1.78 per game. Five interceptions and 23 pass breakups over the last two seasons are most by any UA defender. Semifinalist for the Bednarik Award, which annually goes to college football's top defensive player, and the Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded to the game's top defensive back.
3.] OG Chance Warmack (4)
Texas A&M: When Alabama got inside the A&M 10 on its first two scoring drives of the game, it ran behind Warmack, who helped pave the way for touchdown runs by Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon. The junior checks in at No. 6 overall on Mel Kiper's latest big board for the 2013 NFL Draft.
Season to date: Ten starts at left guard to push his consecutive starts streak to 36 in a row. Two-time SEC offensive lineman of the week (Arkansas and Mississippi State).
4.] C Barrett Jones (3)
Texas A&M: Spearheaded an offensive line that helped the running game pile up 66 yards on 12 carries in its first two touchdown drives of the game. Gave up a tackle for loss to A&M defensive tackle Spencer Nealy in the first quarter and was flagged for holding in the fourth quarter. On Monday, Jones was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District IV team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Season to date: Ten starts this season to push his career total to 46. Player of the week honors from the UA coaching staff for his efforts against Missouri.
5.] QB AJ McCarron (5)
Texas A&M: The junior's 54-yard touchdown pass to Amari Cooper in the fourth quarter tied Greg McElroy's (2010) single-season UA mark of 20 scores. Threw first two interceptions of the season, narrowly avoiding a third. McCarron's 309 passing yards against the Aggies were a career high.
Season to date: In ten starts, completed 157 of 238 (66 percent) passes for 2,158 yards and 20 touchdowns with two interceptions. Passer efficiency rating of 168.2 ranks second in the SEC and seventh nationally. McCarron is a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award (college football's most outstanding player) and the Davey O'Brien Award (top quarterback).
6.] OT DJ Fluker (6)
Texas A&M: Seemingly at his best against upper echelon talent. Didn't give up a sack and performed well in the running game.
Season to date: Ten starts at right tackle to push his career total to 32. Player of the week honors from UA coaching staff following wins over Florida Atlantic, Ole Miss and LSU.
7.] WR Amari Cooper (12)
Texas A&M: No ill-effects from ankle injury that limited Cooper against LSU, as the true freshman caught six passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. Hauled in two passes for 104 yards in the fourth quarter alone.
One of two players to pick up offensive player of the week honors from UA coaching staff.
Season to date: Leads UA in receptions (38), receiving yards (608) and touchdown receptions (six). Has caught four passes or more in six of Alabama's last seven games. Two-time offensive player of the week selection by the UA coaching staff and two-time 247Sports National True Freshman of the Week.
8.] TE Michael Williams (7)
Texas A&M: Lone reception covered 20 yards. Was targeted on another occasion but lost potential big gain to well-time A&M pass breakup.
Season to date: Ten starts to push his career total to 36. Seventeen receptions for 144 yards and three touchdowns. One of three offensive performers to pick up player of the week honors from the UA coaching staff for their play against Mississippi State.
9.] NT Jesse Williams (9)
Texas A&M: Duplicated stat line from LSU game, tying season-high for tackles with seven stops against the Aggies, including one for loss.
Season to date: Start against A&M was his 22nd in 23 career games at Alabama. Recorded 28 total tackles, including 2.5 for loss, two pass breakups, three quarterback hurries and a blocked field goal.
10.] RB Eddie Lacy (not ranked)
Texas A&M: Led the Crimson Tide rushing attack with 92 yards on 16 carries and was second in receptions with four. Averaged 5.8 yards per carry and cracked the goal line late in the second quarter to get his team back in the game at 20-14. One of two offensive players of the week as named by the UA coaching staff.
Season to date: Team leader in rushing yards (771); all-purpose yards (93.6 ypg) and total touchdowns (Ten). Eighteen receptions for 136 yards and one touchdown.
11.] Damion Square (11)
Texas A&M: Led all UA defensive linemen in tackles with eight and combined with Xzavier Dickson to sack Johnny Manziel. Also had a quarterback hurry. Flagged for facemask penalty on A&M's initial drive of the game.
Season to date: Recorded 31 total tackles, including 3.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. Six quarterback hurries are a team high. Started all ten games, giving him 30 for his UA career.
12.] OT Cyrus Kouandjio (not ranked)
Texas A&M: Jumps into the mix after impressive performances against elite competition the last two weeks. Looking more and more like a three-and-out guy.
Season to date: Started all 10 games. Picked up offensive player of the week honors from UA coaching staff following win over LSU.
