The seating estimates I've seen are around 65,000..... which means even less people get to watch the SECCG. Time to get out of our agreement with Atlanta and start playing the game in the Super Dome (seats around 76,000).

Actually its 80,000, unless they have since changed that number? I can't imagine they have since the goal is to bring the Super Bowl to ATL as well as all the other upgrades for the Falcons. Here's a good generalization article that gave architects the specifics they need to draw up plans and ideas. And YES, its a retractable roof stadium....best of all worlds imho.

The competing facility has to be destroyed the last I heard. Now would be the time for Birmingham/SEC to build something that could house all major sports.

The plans for the new Atlanta stadium are for a new retractable roof stadium/dome to be ready to open in time for the 2017 Falcons season. Those worrying about there comfort level need not worry. My only fear is that we'll lose that "right on top of the field" feel that the current dome has.
