*** Four Alabama players arrested (updated)

  • J Kirkpatrick said...

Always heard Eddie was one of those quiet guys. Amazing he would do something stupid like that. A 5-star caliber player who was bound to break into the safety rotation this coming season. Another poster posted some stat that stated you're almost guaranteed to be drafted if you start for Bama, which I think would have happened at some point in his career.

    WASTED TALENT!!!

Seems like Eddie has more than just this case against him right now? Being reported at least something Sunday as well. Wow. No doubt I believe they gotta go.

  • I'm going to reserve judgement until more details come out, but regardless it's very disappointing. I had really high hopes for Eddie, and got excited last year when he made the move to Safety. A guy with his size and athleticism roaming in the secondary, to me it seemed like he could be that big time intimidating presence that we had with Mark Barron.

  • I don't think Saban cares about what the media thinks or making examples of guys. He will gather the facts before he makes any kind of decision. If they legitimately outright robbed people, then they definitely won't return. It's possible one might have done the robbery and the others were in a car. I have no idea. Point is WE DON'T KNOW THE FACTS.

Boot them all off the team. One would assume they'll be in jail/prison soon anyways given the severity of the crime. Obviously Calloway has some serious issues. In hindsight he would have been perfect at the barn. Hopefully they'll get their act together and can eventually get back to the university and earn a degree, but theres no place for them there and now.

I bet there's more to this; need to let it ride until the whole story is out.

  • Doesn't sound good but we must wait for the facts and details to be determined.

  • Wait, I think we're missing something here. Eddie was charged in Sunday for carrying a gun without a license. Does that mean he then turned around and hooked up with the other three for the robbery? I guess I'm unclear about the timeline.

You know what I can't help but wonder? How many players have committed robberies and not gotten caught to make other players think it's ok to do? I'm not judging anyone. I have many flaws and their mistakes aren't greater than mine. I just wonder how does a prospective NFL talent form the thought this is ok to do? A serious question.

Well they obviously wasn't thinking like a future NFL player. Which shows some mental instability to me.

  • Sounds like all 4 were trying to buy stuff with a stolen credit card Calloway had. Maybe Williams knew he was already up the creek with the gun charge and had nothing to lose by participating in the theft.

  • I don't like this any more than you do but why don't we wait to see what their side of the story is and go from there. Every school have players that have some kind of run in with the law. This was very stupid on their part and I hope they will learn from this and go on to productive cizitens and good football players with Alabama or some other school. I hope we don't turn our backs on them because they got into some kind of trouble. What kind of message are we sending to them or their parents. Coach Saban will handle this for sure. JMO.

If you were just charged with illegal possesion of a firearm, what would you do next? Lay low or commit another crime? shrug

  • Just one more area of running a college football program where we have the best in the business. CNS will know exactly what to do. We are embarrassed at the moment but he won't let the program suffer.

  • Quality stupid-will let the process run it's course but they are all going to jail if true

Definitely not commit another crime. As long as the gun wasn't stolen he will most likely get no more than a slap on the wrist for that.
