  • ROLL (Lady) TIDE ROLL....
    Beat the dawgs!

Always tough when playing single elimination. Anything can happen on any given day. As we saw in game 1 of the 3 game series at UGA not too long ago where they jumped on us and held on for the win. We came back to win the series 2 of 3 (but this is one game to advance). Gotta be ready to go from the opening pitch.

Let's GO BAMA.....Win and Advance! rolltideroll

  • No. 3 Seed Florida Beats No. 2 Seed Tennessee, 2-1 in Eight Innings

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.  – In the first upset of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament, No. 3 seed Florida beat No. 2 Tennessee 2-1 in eight innings to win the first of two semifinal games on Friday.  It was also the first extra-inning outing for this year’s tournament.

Tennessee struck first when junior Raven Chavanne scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first inning. Florida answered in the top of the third when freshman Sami Fagan scored on a single by sophomore Cheyenne Coyle to knot the game at one.

The game remained tied until freshman pinch hitter Bailey Castro sent a solo shot over the left-center wall, which proved to be the difference after Tennessee went down in order in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Sophomore pitcher Hannah Rogers picked up the win for the Gators, pushing her record to 27-6, while junior Ivy Renfroe took the loss for the Lady Vols, falling to 19-7.

The Gators advance to Saturday’s championship game where they will await the winner of Friday’s second semifinal game between No. 1 seed Alabama and No. 4 Georgia. The championship game is slated to be aired on ESPN.

  • I really don't like how a couple girls on this UGA team try to cleat our girls when they slide.

  • Neither team hit the ball well tonight. Georgia had 6 hits, but only 1 or 2 was hit hard. Gutsy pitching performances by Arevalo and Traina. I would not be surprised if we don't throw Jackie tomorrow. We need very well rested for regionals next week. A positive of this tournament is that Bruad and Fenton are back to getting on base which really makes our offense go. We have played good defense as well. In the last two games we've hosed 2 runners from the outfield, thrown out 2 base stealers and gunned another runner on a ground ball to 1st.

  • No. 1 Seed Alabama Beats No. 4 Georgia, 1-0

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.  – Top seeded Alabama (49-7) beat No. 4 Georgia (41-15) by a score of 1-0 in Friday’s second semifinal game at the 2012 Southeastern Conference Championships being held in Rhoads Stadium this weekend. The Crimson Tide will face No. 3 Florida at 12 p.m. CDT in the championship game, which will be televised by ESPN2.

In a game that came down to pitching and over-the-top defensive efforts by both teams, the offensive fireworks came from Alabama junior Courtney Conley who drilled a homerun shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the third inning to provide the difference in the game.

Sophomore pitcher Jackie Traina picked up the win for the Tide, pushing her record to 33-2, while senior Erin Arevalo took the loss for the Bulldogs, falling to 23-7.
