Chris, is it to early to ask for a starting lineup for next year??? (VBG)

Filled some needs. Wanted explosive players on offense and feel good about it.

Losing a lot of defensive players. Have some here, but felt it important to do well there too. Feel good about the players we landed. Have a great specialist with the kicker and how me might contribute in the future.

Recruiting is not an exact science and no one knows for sure how these players will develop - it's the usual line he gives every year.

We pride ourselves on the type of program we have, helping people in their lives beyond football. Had 38 players this past year make SEC honor roll, which Saban believes is an all-time record.

How does CNS feel about defending the BCSNC? (G)

SEC rule on 25 signings.

We signed 26, we had a midyear opening that one of the guys went back and counted that way. I think it's going to be an NCAA rule. It was tougher management, trying to hit the number and not go over.

Negative response to grayshirting - he resents the way some coaches are playing that card.

We took some opportunities away from guys who wanted to be here who we couldn't sign, we couldn't offer. I don't see how that's good for the league.

Surprises?

We knew exactly, pretty much, what we're going to get. All those things shook out over the last 48 hours.

Early signing period: I think we have to be careful about that, especially before the high school season because it could affect their senior seasons.

Clarification please. What does that mean?

Simply means that you didn't get a LOI sent to you unless the staff knew you would be committing to UA.
