First Half Notes
- Alabama changed its starting lineup for the first time in six games starting Carl Engstrom, Tony Mitchell, Trevor Releford, Levi Randolph and Rodney Cooper. The start was the first of Engstrom’s career. Engstrom started in place of JaMychal Green to rest the senior after playing four games last week.
- The halftime lead marks the 50th time UA has led at halftime under Anthony Grant. UA is 37-12 in those previous contests when holding a lead. Last season the Tide was 22-3 when up at halftime.
- Rodney Cooper hit a career-high with eight points less than three minutes into the game with a pair of three-pointers and a field goal. He scored 11 of the Tide’s first 15 points and finished the half with 11 points.
- Carl Engstrom matched a career high with five rebounds.
- Alabama A&M was held without a field goal for the first 16:05 of the contest and only converted on one of its 17 attempts from the floor.
- The Tide’s 48 first-half points are its most this season and the most since scoring 49 in the first half against Arkansas on Feb. 25, 2009.
- Alabama A&M’s 20 first half points are the tie for the fewest (with Maryland’s 20 points last Thursday) by a UA opponent since Florida A&M scored 17 on Nov. 12, 2010.
- UA’s defense forced two shot clock violations in the half. The Tide’s opponents have now committed five turnovers on shot clock violations this season.
- UA’s freshmen scored 30 of the Tide’s 48 first half points.

A&M has already scored twice as many field goals in the second half, two, as the first.
