  • UT up 2-1 Top of 7th now our final at bat unless we score to tie.

They took the lead on a deep ball to center, McCleney had it but ran into the wall and the ball appeared to slightly come out. Hard to tell for sure.

    Yep, ground out ends it.

When was the last time softball lost three straight?

Been a while. We lost 2 straight a few times last year....but not many. I think will be fine as we gain more experience playing the high quality teams. Lost a lot of big time leadership last year and that experience is showing a bit to me right now. 5 new starters is a lot in a game where you only have 9 shrug (g)

I'm thinking LSU sweep in 2011 is the last time losing 3 straight. We are young a d it's showing. The comforting thing is Jury pitched really well. She deserved a win. Someone has to step up and take control of catcher and 1st base. Also, we need someone to make up for Amanda Locke's power numbers. I think come tournament time this team will be there and will be ready. Lots of questionable calls too, but you have to play through that.

Yeah Jury was very good today and certainly deserved a win. That's encouraging moving on. The early games didn't prove to give the kind of experience really needed for these kind of matchups and you know the girls have to have some nerves. They all look a bit tight. Probably what you noticed early in yesterdays game as well.

I would love to see a lineup of... Braud, Hawkins, McCleney (she is the perfect 3rd spot hitter imho) makes contact and power will grow as she does over time) Hunt (she may be our best pure power hitter at this point) Richard, then Jackie.... the final 3 spots can mix and match as they play until someone grabs hold of catcher and 1st base like you said as well. And, if Coach really wants to have another speed type at the bottom of the order to bring it back around to the top - use Davis as he has alot this year in the 9 hole....if she plays right fine she's there...if not she can DH at times there too. I think long term Hawkins will grab Right field as the starter and I love the combo of Braud, Hawkins, McCleney at the top to set everything up. ???? Just thinking out loud (g) .
    .
O I too now that you said it remember that 3 game set with LSU. Seems we left there and came home winning a few in a row after.
    .
pss...(g) go ahead and send Murph my batting order just in case he would like some outside advice lol

It would not surprise me to see that top of the order tomorrow. The reason he has Hunt in the 3 spot is to make sure she bats with runners on base. Of course with that mix at the top you could have bases loaded a lot with Hunt up and teams will be forced to pitch to her. That being said, Jackie has to start hitting. I think a lot of people thought Spencer would take up the slack with Locke's power being gone, but that hasn't happened yet. I think Hawkins keeps the spot in RF due to how well she's playing. She has proven that she belongs in the line-up. The soft early schedule is showing, but I'm very, very encouraged by the pitching of Jury. Need to get a win tomorrow for a little confidence boost. We should sweep USCe next weekend then have AU coming to town.

Absolutely. And Jackie's struggles is exactly why I think moving her back a couple of spots would do her a world of good. She has too much on her imho. She's counted on to be the ace, almost thought of she needs to win every time out. Then you put her in the 4 hole batting. She's not that imho. She would be best served at 6 where the pressure is less and she can just sling it - both on the mound and at the plate like she enjoys doing (g). shrug

    .
Also, we need pop from somewhere. But, if that is going to be lacking some this year, we MUST small ball them to death which again makes sense to put a top of the order of Braud, Hawkins, McCleney, Hunt, Richard....

No matter - Future is Bright. Hopefully the Present catches up S O O N thumbsup And that outing by Jury today was exactly what she needed and Murph needed to see from her. Big time today from her.

This will make you mad. The game winning hit from last night was completely foul. Check out the 1:45 mark.

WOW that's awful. It didn't even go over the bag and was very very close to bouncing outside the line on the first bounce. Wow. How about Hunts hit down the line today? It even sounded like the UT announcer thought it was fair, yet called foul? The strike zone so far this series has seemed really inconsistent.

I haven't seen video of it, but we have gotten hosed so far in this series. I can't remember it being this bad ever in terms of home cooking. I didn't have too many complaints about the strike zone today. It seemed fairly consistent to me.

Yeah as for the strike zone I guess much more yesterday than today's game. Unreal on that video from last nights hit.

UT fans are saying that it went over the bag. There is no way in Hades that ball was fair. We probably would've lost anyway, but it was so very wrong.
