    We are a couple weeks away from introducing three new really cool products to the 247Sports Player Database.

    #1. Ranking History
    #2. Crystal Ball (version 1 of 2)
    #3. Skills (version 1 of 2)

    Here's a quick description of each:

    #1. Ranking History: Shows the "ratings" and "rankings" history for each prospect ... shows both 247Sports and #247Composite .. graphical illustration comparing 247Sports with the industry.

    #2. The Crystal Ball: Version 1.0 of the Crystal Ball allows any recruiting analyst in the 247Sports network (both National and team reporters) to predict where a prospect is going to commit and sign and records the prediction date. The product shows users the prediction from each analyst and also gives an overall prediction percentage for potential schools. ... Version 2.0 coming later this year will allow all 247Sports members to predict commitments and will earn reputation points, badges and free time for their predictions. ... Version 2.0 will also allow other recruiting analyst in the industry to make predictions and contribute to the analyst prediction.

    #3. Skills: The 247Sports national team has assigned 5 different skills for each position. The Skills that each player is rated on are specific for his respective position. Admins have the ability to add more than 5 skills -- especially useful when rating athletes and jumbo athletes. ... Version 2.0 coming later this year will allow 247Sports national analyst to craft a written evaluation as part of this product.

    Disclaimer ... when you view the images below, please note that the specs for the 3 new products are "very rough" right now. Most of the efforts with the product team is on functionality at this stage. They will begin cleaning up the look and feel and usability factors mid week, once the products are finalized.

    So, here's were we need your help and feedback. We are at a point where we are developing many different products/modules for the Player Database. This is a great thing, but we need to adjust our layout and prioritization of each area of the Player page.

    For example, as designers we need to place the features that are most used and most important near the top of the page and in areas that best satisfies our users. I would like to take some time to measure your feedback on which products you use most often.

    Please rate each product on a scale of 1 to 5 for most important to you:

    1 -- Don't use
    2 -- Marginal value, could live without it
    3 -- Solid value, occasional use
    4 -- Needed product, frequent user
    5 -- Great Product, use all the time

    On the Bio, it would be nice if we got a bit more insight into the prospect's personality. Maybe the prospects interests, whether or not he plays other sports, runs track and field etc, age, etc. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    The reason i do not value twitter much any more for recruiting information as it seems like the medium is gamed; mostly by the players

  • Bio: 2 - this could definitely be improved, very little info provided in terms of a bio. Is the player from a school that's considered a pipeline to another school? Etc.
    Player Tweets: 2 - like others I take this with a grain of salt.
    Skills & Scouting Reports: 5 - looking forward to this more than anything.
    The Crystal Ball: 4 - If nothing else this will increase the entertainment value and increase banter.
    Prospect Videos: 5 - My favorite thing which brings a suggestion, any chance you guys could team with Hudl to allow videos on site? 24/7 does an amazing job with coverage but the videos available on a lot of prospects is minimal or non-existing. This is a huge area of opportunity!
    Prospect Photos: 2
    Timeline: 4
    School Interests Modules: 4. - this and the timeline are both vital in gauging exactly how interested a prospect is.
    Rankings and Ratings module: 5 - the best in the business.
    Ranking History: 3 - interesting feature but most of us already follow the rankings close enough to know who has risen or fallen.
    Industry Twitter (tweets from the entire recruiting industry: 2 - tweets mean of little importance to me when not accompanied by an article/link explaining the thought process behind random tidbits.

    Skills & Scouting Reports: 5 (one of the most anticipated features from clearly the top guys in the business)
    The Crystal Ball: 4 (getting some predictions from other sites & from 247 guys is golden)
    Prospect Videos: 3 (standard stuff, but a must)
    Prospect Photos: 3 (standard stuff, but a must)
    Timeline: 3 (sometimes helpful seeing who got the first / last contact with a recruit, etc.)
    School Interests Modules: 4
    Rankings and Ratings module: 4 (pretty nice composite of trends)
    Ranking History: 4 (would love to see a player catapult or descend in rankings depending on the case)
    Industry Twitter: 3 (sometimes very good info here)

    Overall, love the innovative new stuff. Shannon, you guys have this thing down to a science.

    We have a deal with Hudl, the problem is we can link to them on the profile because of a tech limitation. It is on our quick build list and is a fairly high priority. Should be available mid Spring.

    Thanks for the quick response Lucky. I was aware that mods would reference Hudl but was not aware of the tech issue regarding why they were absent from being launched on player profiles directly.
