Greetings from the rainy Joe, where the tarp is out, but the teams are warming up.
It's a "Let's do everything we can to try and get this in" Sunday.
First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. We shall see.
Scheduled starters: Right-hander Spencer Turnbull (4-1, 2.26) vs. Aggies RHP Rafael Pineda (3-4, 3.67).
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
First pitch has been moved back to 2 p.m.
Heavy sigh ...
1:25 and the radar looks really, really bad.
Tarp coming off
Meanwhile, from James Spann: Heavier rain and storms about to move into the Tuscaloosa/B'ham metro areas. Lots of lightning, but not severe
Yeah, we're hosed.
Right on cue, it starts to rain as they're announcing the lineups.
Ok, they're going to start this one ... we'll see how far they can go
A&M goes down 1-2-3 in the first.
Tide has a rally going in the first, with two singles and one out, and the rain cranks up. It's really coming down.
Wild pitch advances the runners ...
Moore rung up. He showed up the ump on the second strike, you could see that one coming.
Smith gets ahead and the A&M coach comes out to the mound to talk things over.
Rain picks up some more ...
Smith hit to left, two runs in. 2-0
... that pretty much ensures that we're going to be here a while. Curfew is at 6 p.m. -- can't start an inning after that and they have to play five for it to count.
Booth 0-2 hits one down the right-field line, barely clears the fence. 4-0
... and the umps pull everyone off the field ... Rain delay with two outs in the first. 4-0
They got a time set to try to start back?
Man we need this one to get in.
Good news: The rain has stopped
Bad news: The yellow lone of storms is just to the north and west.
