Think she is our 4th seeded player and if I am reading the scoreboard correctly the 10th ranked individual in the country. So, I would say she is good, but is having a great start to the weekend. She has only carded one bogey. I don't keep up throughout the year, but seems she has won a few individual titles this year.

I haven't kept up with anything either so I'm not sure where she would be would be in our lineup. Looking at the player leaderboard she is our second ranked player behind Jennifer Kirby who is 8th. I went searching for some rankings yesterday and found the link below. According to Golfweek she is ranked 7th (and our #1 player although we do have 7-8-9). Either way, I'd say she is pretty good.

"Teams with players" section of the leader board shows their seeding I think (also think the scorecards stay in seeding format for the daily rounds).

We have 3 or 4 very good players, but most say Pancake is the best. She is also playing well this week.

  • Looks like the course is playing a lot tougher today. Par golf will hold a nice lead.

Yes we have so good golfers.

Pancake also won the state title in Tennessee all 4 years she was at Baylor (my alma mater). This was part of the team winning the title all 4 years. In fact up until 2011 (golf is a fall sport), Baylor girls had the state title for 16 straight years. She was part of that streak for 4 years.

  • Brooke is really good. Hopefully we secure our spot in Match play and take it home from there. Match play is a different animal.

  • Not copying that well but the 1st number is position of the team followed by their seeding. Then afer the name you have their team total over the entire tourny, with the next set of numbers the holes they are on, followed by their total for the day. Then last 3 numbers are what was shot the 1st day and then 2nd and their total.

So for Alabama, we are 1st, seeded 2nd, our team name, -1 overall, playing holes 3 to 6,+4 for the day, shot 286 1st round, 285 2nd round, sitting at 571 strokes through 2 completed rounds.

So we have not started out great but currently have a 9 stroke lead (which isn't huge considering we are talking about 4 scores counting per team out of 5 golfers)

    1 2 Alabama
    -1 3 - 6 +4 286 285 - 571
    2 1 UCLA
    +8 3 - 6 +2 292 290 - 582
    3 3 Southern Cal
    +9 3 - 5 E 297 288 - 585
    4 27 Virginia
    +10 6 - 8 +4 288 294 - 582
    5 6 North Carolina
    +11 3 - 6 +5 290 292 - 582
    6 25 South Carolina
    +13 6 - 8 +6 302 281 - 583
    T7 33 Purdue
    +14 3 - 5 +2 293 295 - 588
    T7 5 Arizona State
    +14 6 - 8 +7 292 291 - 583
    9 7 LSU
    +16 3 - 5 +5 293 294 - 587
    10 8 Duke
    +21 5 - 8 +6 289 302 - 591

  • Yeah not a great start but hopefully they settle in. I don't want deja vu from the men last year. Was hard watching those shots pile up in that final round.

  • I usually delete the seedings when I post the scores because it's just confusing.

Tide about halfway through the front nine, +4 on the day, -1 on the tournament with a 10-stroke lead.

If you want to watch: http://www.ncaa.com/liveschedule

    1 Alabama 286 285 +4 -1
    1 Brooke Pancake 68 70 E (4) -6
    T6 Stephanie Meadow 69 73 +1 (5) -1
    T15 Jennifer Kirby 74 71 +1 (6) +2
    T30 Hannah Collier 75 71 +3 (6) +5
    T101 Courtney McKim 82 77 +2 (6) +17

  • Of the teams we need to be closely watching based on rankings (teams that have the talent to shoot low and erase our lead if we stumble slightly)

#1 ranked UCLA is currently 13 shots back
#3 ranked USC is currently 10 shots back
#6 ranked UNC is currently 10 shots back
#5 ranked ASU is currently 15 shots back

Virginia, who came into the weekend seeded 27th is having a hell of a week but can they keep it up. Yes. Can they go low to catch us. I don't think so, we would have to help them more than the other teams mentioned above for them to beat us relative to talent.

If we fall over our face the remainder of the round and tomorrow, all bets are off.

  • As I pointed out during yesterday's round.

Day 1: Bama was -5 on the 20 par 5's for the 4 players who's score counted.
Day 2: Bama was -7 on the 20 par 5's for the 4 players who's score counted.

Bama is now playing holes 7-9 which includes 2 par 5's. Would like to pick up a few more shots on the next 3 holes.

Kirby has already picked up 1 birdie on 7.

Of the top 8 teams on the course, Bama is shooting the worst, score wise, of the leader board.

Lets hope the back 9 isn't still playing more difficult considering we only had 3 birdies on the front.
