TUSCALOOSA _ University of Alabama junior cornerback Dee Milliner was back going through drills during Thursday’s observation period, while senior center Barrett Jones was not while continuing to wear a black no-contract jersey.
The Crimson Tide returned from Christmas break Wednesday and subsequently went through an evening practice, with the team in full pads Thursday.
Milliner was limited in the practices before the break, and Jones is coming off a sprained foot sustained in the SEC Championship Game. Instead of the cast he wore the previous two weeks, Jones was in a walking boot and going through conditioning drills on the sideline of the Hank Crisp Facility.
Freshman linebacker Denzel Devall (sprained knee) remained in black, but was moving around better and working with a trainer through flexibility and stretching exercises. He’s still considered day-to-day.
Senior nose guard Jesse Williams continues to use a knee brace. Senior guard Chance Warmack again wore a cast on his hand during practice, but junior guard Anthony Steen instead had the padding on his outside fingers that he’s used in games.
There was no sign of the other injured players, including junior wide receiver Kenny Bell (broken leg). Junior safety Jarrick Williams (knee) continued to practice in a black no-contact jersey.
Among those playing the part of Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o was freshman Reggie Ragland.
In an interesting change, reporters got to see a passing drill that had used an inside linebacker, Nico Johnson, where the sixth defensive back usually lines up. The second unit had safety Vinnie Sunseri at the same spot.
Alabama will practice again Friday at 1:50 p.m.
