  • Hey Lucky, how close is he to a triple double? I like players that can fill the stat box.

  • Lacey and Cooper could be the players that but us on the road to the NCAA next year. RTR

  • I was at the BJCC about 5 rows up watching the game. Butler was playing Midfield and Lacey was guarded by several different players, most notably Andrew Gilmore, who was about an inch shorter than Lacey, very quick and athletic and came in averaging 18 pts and 11 boards a game for Midfield. Midfield didn't have any tall guys but a very quick team and you can see how they got to the final 4.

This was my first time to see Lacey in person. In this game he was usually the tallest guy on the court at 6'3'' or 6'4'' (Lacey was listed in the program at 6'4''). You didn't need a program to know which one was Trevor Lacey. For much of the first quarter he was double teamed out to the three point line.

The "WOW" play of the game - Lacey was just to the right of the top of the key with a defender really on him who lunged hard twice, trying to steal the ball. Lacey is pretty effortless in his handle, and in a matador like fashion did two "OLE"s, and while seemingly facing the newspaper writers, he whizzed a no look pass in rhythm with the second OLE move to a wide open teammate who layed it in. If you were at the game everyone went WoooooW - it was showtime.

If Lacey comes to Bama I find it hard to believe he wouldn't be our starting shooting guard on Day 1. No offense to Andrew Steele who I really have enjoyed watching comeback strong this year, but Lacey is a special player. He handle is elite, very good athleticism and works hard on the boards and defense, elite level passer, great hands, great court awareness. I was most impressed by his ability to breakdown a single defender off the dribble and effortlessly (the guy is smooth) glide in for an easy layup. Lacey also can pull up on a close defender and knock down a shot. He was 5 for 5 on free throws that I saw. He missed some threes but looks confident shooting and unlike our players now, he will take 3s with no hesitation. Just an all around very confident player who will play in the NBA one day, and he doesn't need to go to Kentucky do reach that goal.
