Urban Myer still hates us, basically he said

  • That LSU could stop our run buy putting 9 in the box and their 2 corners and safety could shut down our wr's... this was on his video board breakdown. He is so biased against us, but then again, we are the reason he is no longer coaching. His opinions are almost as bad as Craig James!!

  • I like how when Fowler was mentioning how deadly Saban is in supposed "revenge" games, he segues to Meyer and Fowler states, "and you have been the victim of a Saban revenge game. Meyer then emphasizes that when he BEAT Bama in 2008 blah blah blah, ha. Meyer keeps emphasizing nobody in this game will run. That anyone could stop the run. I guess there is a reason his ass has beaten like a rented mule the last 2 games against Alabama

  • That game day set is as close as he's ever gotten to the end zone in BDS.

  • I think he was just trying to give a blueprint on how to stop our running game, not necessarily saying that lsu can or will. I could be wrong, but just my opinion. Meyer knows that that sh*t is easier said than done.

  • I just saw that he picked us to win...., but in the film room he put forth another opinion.

  • They were asking how do you stop Bama's running game. He said LSU usually plays a base with the corners on an island and a FS in the middle allowing the SS to cheat into the LOS and keep 8 in the box. He said LSU has occassionally played 9 in the box bc Claiborne and Mathieu are so talented that you could give them no help. He said it would give the defense numbers against a power running set BUT it left the secondary weak bc if any receiver got the least bit of room he could take it to the house.

I though he was actually complimentary of Bama. He basically said the game plan may have to be all or nothing. Stack the box and hope the corners make it or keep the FS back and get pounded. Im not a big fan of Meyer as a coach but you'd be a fool to say he can't discuss X/O's with the best of them!

Why bring facts into his biased non objective opinion?

  • Alabama/Saban basically drove the poor man crazy and caused him to get out of coaching. He isn't going to show love for us, but he might show respect. He did pick us to win.

I know. I heard the commentary and that's not what he said at all.

I understand what he was saying, and i know he picked us, but he was implying on the video board that LSU could stop our run. If he is so damn smart, then why could he not stop us?

9 guys in the box, keying the run... Play Action, Michael Williams up the Seam or Smelly in the Flat... I'll take 7 to 8 yards on virtually any play except a 3rd and longer than that.

You realize they were doing a segment on how to try to stop our run? Thats his job now. I think he always gives saban and alabama a lot of respect.

  • Relax, man... Meyer gets paid to answer questions like that now, and put nice little film clips up to go along with his answer. He used to get paid to coach football, until Bama made his heart almost explode.

Let the man make his living. If he had been honest, ESPN wouldn't want to keep him around:

"Now let's go to Urban Meyer to break down stopping Alabama. Urban, how do you stop Bama's running game?"
"Well, f*** me, if I though it was possible, I'd still be coaching. Back to you, Kirk."
"Urban... don't you have some film to show us? Or... something?"
"What the Hell do you want, Kirk? I can show you some film of Trent Richardson trucking some guys? Does that help?"
"Well... what kind of front does LSU need?"
"*Sigh*... okay, Kirk. Here's a picture for you. It's called the Hoover-eff-ing-Dam. It's 600 ft thick of concrete. If LSU puts that on the LOS, and gets enough points early, then maybe they'll have a big enough cushion when Bama finally wears it down midway through the 4th."
    "...Uhh... thanks... Urban... I guess..."

Entertaining... sure, but not what he's paid to do. And in all honesty, I thought it was a decent segment. And what he said was true: put 9 in the box, pray the corners can play on an island... if LSU has to pull two safeties out... they're toast. That will mean that AJ was beating man coverage repeatedly, and now Trent can run against a 7-man front.

No, you are just blowing it out of proportion. He was showing how to do it, not necessarily that they would. I think he acts like he respects Bama and especially Saban.

But I'm also not a conspiracy theorists like some either.

  • I like Urban. He's a great analyst, probably the most knowledgeable one ESPN has. But I do think he underestimates the power running game. He never had it at Florida and he could never stop it against us, but I'm not sure he wants to admit that. So he says something like you can always stop the run. But with a beastly power game against a fast, undersized defense, like the ones Urban had and like LSU's defense, sometimes you would have to put so much of your resources toward it that it jeopardizes your pass defense to an unacceptable degree. I don't think Urban ever really accepted that, and it cost him some games against us.
