So football dropped 20 points for single year score? That doesn't seem correct.

The reason why is last year's 994 was tied for the fourth best single-year score in the nation. So in the year-by-year scores Alabama dropped, but its overall score was higher.

Yeah, seems I remember Texas talking about the PAC 12 being so superior academically to the SEC when they were entertaining thoughts of leaving the Big 12. Guess that is everyone but the football players. biggrin

  • Chris, is it true if someone leaves early for the draft in say year three like Trent and leaves without a degree, that it hurts the score ??

  • This is priceless. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Alabama posts solid APR's, while Auburn's football APR is pretty mediocre. And I thought Saban was the one running players off to make room for new prospects? So why is Auburn's APR so much lower?

According to Marshall, Auburn is just kicking players off the team for drug use and having talented kids who are buried on the depth chart transfer. I guess Saban just runs them off, and then the REC pays the NCAA to inflate Alabama's APR numbers.

If Auburn's APR was higher that the Tide's, you can bet they would be important to him! biggrin

Not if they were on pace to graduate.

What he's clearly overlooking, and on purpose, is what kind of kids you recruit. We have a high standard of where we try to bring in kids that can succeed on and off the field. Sure we take a few gambles but compared to aubarn it's not even close. I know we have more to pick from than aubarn but PM would never admit that either. All comes down to the fact that more kids want to come to Bama and we can choose the best combination of STUDENT athletes that we want. Or at least stable kids that will grow in our program and do the right things. My two cents.

Btw...I love how I spell aubarn now without even thinking about it.

Also posted on the story thread, which was just updated with the top 25 single-year scores.

A couple of things that caught my eye:

    1) I can pretty much guarantee that this is the first time that none of the military academies finished in the top 25 in single-year scores.

    Air Force 971
    Army 959
    Navy 959

    2) All the following single-year scores caused me to say "Really?"
    Southern California 925
    Texas 914
    Oklahoma State 903
    Florida International 897
    North Carolina 895

Wow....can't believe some of the elite schools don't have a better grasp on things. Texas 914...doh.
