2008 team

I was thinking how close we came to playing in the BCSNCG in 2008 and possibly winning 4 out of 5 NCs. We would have played OU who lost to UF 24-14. Just curious to hear everyone's thoughts on how the game against OU would have gone.

Just for giggles, think if we would have had the right mindset in 2010,,,,08,09,10,11 and 12 and should compete for it next year....times are good folks

Imo I don't think we would have beat OU but I would have loved a shot at it.

Without crimson glasses, I think it would have been a close game with us losing. Looking back on that season, I still think we slightly over-achieved. 12-2 was amazing and thinking we were that close to national championship. We have a great offensive line and a defense that could shut down the run as good as anyone. We had 3 major weaknesses:
1. Our QB and I dont think I need to say more than that
2. We didnt have anyone that could get pressure on the QB consistently
3. Our secondary against the pass

I still believe the 2010 team was the best team we've had.

Florida really missed Percy Harvin in the SECCG. Having said that, the SECCG was very close despite the 11 point difference. If Donta doesn't get a sliver of a finger on that facemask call, Bama could have won that game.

Yes he did. There are two plays I remember the most from that game; 1 was Donta's facemask penalty (literally like 1 finger on the mask but a good call), and the 1st down long incomplete pass to Julio in the 4th quarter. We had been running the ball really well and tried to catch them sleeping and we call that play and ended up going 3 and out and it really hurt our chances to win the game.

I agree... Not second-guessing, but I fully expected us to do what we had done all year in the 4th quarter. Ram it down their throats. Going for the pass on first down was definitely going for the throat so I can't blame them, but I wonder whether they would have been able to stop us if we had stuck to our power run game.

There was also a kickoff that Javy fielded in the corner and then stepped out at like the 5 or 10 or something that put is in bad field position. It may have been in the first half, but I thought I remembered it being later.
