As signing day draws near and the numbers are tight I have a question. Does anyone recall classes or situations like we have this year where we seem to cool on elite prospects or just outright turn them away because we don't have room for them and are already almost full with elite prospects? As much as I hate to not get these elite guys it is just amazing to me where our recruiting is. We are actually turning away or giving conditional offers to top 100 guys.
Never Gets Old
who are you referring to that we have cooled on? M. Adams has never held us in that high regard until late and we think its prob too late on him.
M. Thomas: maybe the coaches wanted just 1 LB and Tim Williams was ready to join and Thomas was not so we took the one that was ready now?
Austin Gholson: This one I am a little grey on. Heard he's never been a bama fan but prob only visited cuz of proximity and how bad ass we are. He's been committed to FSU for a while and maybe wanted to stick with them cuz thats the RIGHT thing to do once you commit to a school(in my eyes, at least). And also our coaches probably would rather have A. Robinson or LT anyday over Gholson and we didn't show him the love he thought he expected at his OV so he was like "the hell with yall then".
J. Cunningham: cuz there are higher guys on the board and he wont take a greyshirt when he can go to AU or Oregon or other places and start in June. Thats a simple one.
J. McNeil: Grades, JUCO in Kansas is where he's going.
When you only have 3-5 spots with 7-9 guys left, you have to do that sometimes. It sucks but its a good problem to have.
Didn't we turn down a commit from OL Dawson because spot was taken. And in the nuggets it said directly that we didn't push for Thomas or Gholson on their OV.

That's my point exactly. Our recruiting has gotten to the point where we have more interest from top prospects than positions to give them. It's very good
i love the point at where recruiting is at for us. We probably would have taken Dawson if we lost another lineman or the staff thought we needed another big boy instead of a LB or CB or Ath.
I see your point but i think what really hurts us is not having enough SRs and Juniors leaving for the draft/graduation.
Now I am definitely one who doesn't want to see our team get as depleted starters wise as LSU, so this is just a year where we can only take 25 or so.
I bet there will be some guys who don't come back for another year next year. Guys who we did offer schollys to and never made a dent in the depth chart and when they graduate in the spring or summer, they are done. Similar to Tyler Love last year.
What we have coming back, and the talent we are bringing in this year, we are DEFINITELY the favorites for the title and i hope these boys create a new identity for themselves and push themselves cuz VT will come into ATL ready to shock the world and then A&M will be a real test! Two top 10 teams slugging it out! We have to put Johnny Football in his place!
