A Few Bama Football Predictions

  • swimbikerun247 said...

I expect D Hart to be 1b in the running back rotation even more so than a clear #2.

Dial and Fanning both arrive on the scene and make names for themselves.

Nico leads the team in tackles, easily.

Williams is first UA pick in next year's draft.

I like somebody else's pick and feel it's a safe one, Sunseri is in on the first tackle of the season.

Alabama produces two 1,000 yard backs next season.

Nico Johnson is poised for a huge season imo. He reminds me the most of Demeco Ryans when he was at Bama. He has just the right skill set to have a huge season in this type of defense.

Not a knock on the other guys, but it seems like everyone not only expects Fowler to get passed by Hart and TJ, but they want it to happen.

This guy averaged nearly 7 ypc running mainly behind our second string lineman (albeit our second string would probably be first string on about 80% of FBS programs) with a defense knowing full well that we were going to run the ball nearly every play. Chris mentioned in an earlier article that he doesn't have any receptions--heck, he probably hasn't been on the field when we've thrown the ball, let alone with him leaving the backfield as a receiver.

Like Coffee, he may not be flashy, but he just gets the job done in a Jacob-Hester type of way. Again, not tyring to knock on other guys, but I just like the way this guy runs the ball and think it's a bit premature to underestimate him.

Agree. People that think Fowler is nothing but a battering ram have not watched him or know nothing about football. he has good running instincts, hits the hole quickly and is extremely fast for someone as big as he is. Reminds me of Ricky Moore only faster. He's an NFL back waiting to happen similar to that huge RB for the Giants. Not a good vid here but he outruns the secondary. Tired or not thats fast enough.

Alabama's 3rd string is better than most s...

Look at Alabama's 3rd string running back Jalston Fowler running it hard into the endzone. ALABAMA will be the BCS champs again this year.Check out my blogs: http://manthy.hubpages.com http://ismanthyhere.blogspot.com/ - http://writeforincome.blogspot.com/ http://allthinggssports.blogspot.com/ and add me on twitter @driftoff2dream

  • lol at people getting mad that their favorite player is getting left out. We just have so many good players that it's impossible to predict who will have an impact. Great times folks, great times.

    - Quinton Dial has a big season and either leads or is in the top 2 on the team in sacks..

    - We return 5 kickoffs/punts for a touchdown on the season.. Our possible returners are absolutely sick..

    - Amari Cooper has at least 30 receptions and 5 touchdowns on the season.. TNFL- I think you're dead on with this guys talent.. A lot of people are really excited about him..

    - Reggie Ragland will have a significant role, maybe not a starter, but will play a lot of meaningful snaps on defense..

I like your optimism but yikes on #2 and #3. We haven't had 5 returns for a touchdown in the past 5 years combined and we only had 1 WR catch more than 30 receptions last year (Maze at 57) the second and third leading receivers were Smelly and Richardson...Hanks only had 26 receptions. So to think a true freshman can catch 30 for 5 tds is far fetched. There's nothing wrong with having those expectations but the only problem is (not saying you will do this) we as fans have unrealistic expectations for a lot of players (especially TF) and when the player doesn't live up to those expectations we start asking what's the matter with the player and then it turns into rumors about the player not being dedicated or in trouble when in reality the player wasn't ready to contribute when we thought they should.

  • - Barrett Jones wins all American honors
    - Cyrus has a solid year
    - Nico and CJ have a great year
    - J. Williams wins AA honors
    - square has a great year
    - fanning and Dial do a very solid job of filling in
    - Vinne has a great year
    - Landon Collins sees significantly more time as the season progresses
    - not one true freshman WR sees significant playing time
    - if healthy and not timid (because of knee) Hart becomes #2 RB
    - if he stays healthy Lacey has a GREAT year
    - Depriest, Haha, Dickson play significant roles
    - Hubbard has a really good year.

It's all in fun with me.. Do I really think we will have all that? Nah.. But would like to see it happen.. I think it's possible, but maybe not too probable.. I have high expectations for every player that steps on campus at Alabama.. As long as they dedicate themselves and put in the effort, they will be greatly improved from when they first arrived.. And seeing how good our guys are when they arrive just makes it that much more exciting

Highly unlikely that not one tf wr doesn't see the field. We still aren't that stacked with experience at wr. & it's one of the easiest spots for young player's to earn reps outta hs.

Not saying one won't see the field but I would be willing to bet that none make a significant contribution =15-20 catches on the season.

Lucky, staff, or anyone that knows, whats the word on Harts knee. I know he has had plenty of time to heal and everyhting but does he have his quickness back and his cutting ability?

    Bump for answer.

How is his cutting ability since the injury?

Yes... because we had two seniors that returned last year. & White/Bell/& tf Jones locked up spots in the rotation in Spring. No reason to burn Woodson/Shinn rs last year. This year not as much returning contribution+several quality wr's enrolling for the Spring=at least one of them in gonna contribute in some sense. I'd say Amari Cooper is a wild card in the race.

I'm sure he will turn out to be a great athlete but how much WR did he play in HS?

Agree, but guys like Sims weren't nearly as effective in the 4th quarter. There were plenty of times when TR was still running behind our 1st team line late in games to finish teams off in similar situations, and he didn't fare as well as JF. In no way am I saying that the two players are equal; I'm just saying that you have to give a guy credit for running the way he did when the entire stadium knew what was coming.

If you think that Fowler should be over Dee Hart then you need some serious help lol just kidding.

but seriously IMO there is a huge difference in Talent between the two and if Hart wouldn't have gotten hurt last year he would have been our #3 guy. Fowler will be a good situational back (ie: Goal Line or 10-yard line...or 3rd and very short) something like that but to say he should have more carries than hart is absurd IMO there is just to much of a talent difference.
