BOL's Travis Reier has been hinting at it for the past month, but Alabama fans may not realize how good Eddie Lacy really is.
The Tide is in very good shape at running back -- despite Richardson's early entry into the NFL draft. Eddie Lacy is probably one of the most underrated prospects on the team. If he stays healthy, he could have as good of a year (statistically) as Trent had this season -- although he will likely get less carriers. Lacy is a bull and has great, great feet.
Another key point is that his abilities/talents and running style work well with the Tide's offensive blocking schemes.

That's interesting and pretty cool about Vinnie. I follow recruiting closely but am not as "in the know" about prospects as others are on here. I admit that I just assumed Vinnie was given a scholarship because he was a coach's son, I really didn't know anything else about him other than he was, on the surface, not the same type of elite recruit we had been signing at DB. He really opened my eyes early on ST's last year though when he basically sacrificed his body and nearly decapitated that PSU player. I watched him pretty closely after that and I gotta say he is one of my favorite young players. He seems smart, is very physical, very energetic and you can tell he would do anything for that team. It's great to hear he will factor heavily into our defense this coming season and it's impressive given the sick amount of talent we have at safety. Good for him.
Also, very encouraging news about Fanning. Not that he has been overlooked but most of the discussion about young defensive talent has focused on Haha, Depriest, Collins...and apparently Fanning is the one who is really showing out. Am I right in that he is a DE all the way? We have great depth there for 2012 so it'd be nice if his emergence could help facilitate a move by Williams or someone to DT where we need some playmakers. Great to hear he is doing so well and that the DE position is in good shape for the future.
