Your gonna do that when I hear recruits say all the time I wish I would've enrolled early. Your life though that would be tough for me to take.

Plus, these kids got injured after the scholarship offer was presented. People NEED to see the generosity of the programs for honoring their commitment AT ALL. Any injured player is not the same commodity in which you were investing, unless it occurred prior to the offer. Even the DAMN NCAA knows this fact. Therefore, they don't demand that every institution MUST give a scholarship to every recruit that is offered and commits but suffers a serious career threatening or delaying injury.

These kids are but hurt because they feel like someone is going to look at them as though they are 2nd rate or rejects because they delayed their official enrollment. Most of these kids were going to redshirt any way. A significant number need the time to academically mature. Furthermore, the 6 months away leads to a significantly better healing process and physical maturity.

Now, if a greyshirt recruit REALLY wants to be in school with his "entering class", he can enroll part time and pay his own way. For an in-state student, the cost is minimal and affordable. He can get a loan, Pell Grant and Supplemental Grant. At the most, he will incur $5000 in debt that can be deferred. When he finishes his career, with or without a degree, it can be repaid. I know of a few scenarios that can wipe that debt away rather easily.

Of Note: The OPPORTUNITY to attend college for free is still on the table and available.

These kids and some adults cannot see the forest for trees. Its a damn shame!!! The ONLY situation I see where this can be heinous is if the recruit was perfectly healthy and a school rescinded the scholarship offer very close to signing day; thereby, limiting the recruit's ability to sign with another program.
