Yes it was very strange to see the facial expression from Cyrus and Brent when they announced for au. Both looked like their dog had been run over 10 minutes before they were set to announce. I would love to know what was going on with that.
But on another point, it never ceases to amaze me that so many barners believe that Bama "must be cheating" to recruit at this level. Every major college football analyst/pundit in the country knew that Nick Saban and Alabama would be a deadly combination and that he would recruit well and win big. Even when Nick first arrived in Tuscaloosa he was known to be a tireless recruiter and considered to be one of the top 3 or 4 coaches in America along with Carrol, Myer, Stoops/Tressel. It should be no surprise that Bama consistently reels in top 5 classes.
Yet they see nothing strange at all about ol' 5-19 Gene Chizik showing up and recruiting at virtually the same level as Bama in the most competitive region in the country. Nobody saw that coming. He didn't even have a reputation as a good head coach, much less a great recruiter. Still they always act outraged and bewildered when Bama lands a big recruit as if there is no other reason than foul play that a kid would choose to play for Bama/Saban over au/Chizik.
