And by no means am I being a fair weather fan. Grant is doing an average job, and if rather be us than auburn w tony barbee but I believe whole heatedly that we are capable of more
Schiano had one over 10 win season at Rutgers and the year before his last won 4 games. No his teams were not consistently near the top 25 much less top 5. Grant was one of the the big named coaches a few years ago and was up for big name jobs. We were all suprised when he came to Bama and he's done a good job. If he left he'd get another good coaching job cause he's a heck of a coach.
Like I said, he's done an average job. Do you feel good about his job security if we don't make the tournament the next two years? And me personally, I wanted mike Anderson. If you go back and watch highlights of grants VCU team that pressed like hell, why can't this team do the same thing? That team was successful against the BIG NAME programs of the world
And don't say it's bc he doesn't have the pieces to be a pressing team. He's had 3 or 4 years to recruit that type of player of that is his style
So your basing him being average off an "if he doesn't make the tourney in the next two years"? I go off what he's done. 3 20 win seasons in a row at Bama is good.
List of teams that have won 20 games: VCU(7 years in a row), Creighton (3), Witchita State(4), New Mexico(6). And if you want to go majors: Kansas State(6), Miami(4), Notre Dame(7), Missouri(5). So those schools in the major conferences are "football schools" that are not known as basketball school but excel. Why can't we? So if you are judging this on 20 win seasons which we have failed to accomplish thus far, then there's no reason we cannot be as successful as the aforementioned. Btw, K State, Miami, Notre Dame, and Missouri have all made it past the 1st round of the NCAA tourny in their 20 win seasons.
I didn't see the game today but from what I can gather, we played good enough to win but went on one of our typical scoring droughts at a key point in the game. Our basketball is frustrating and sometimes painful to follow. I much prefer the football team's "let's go kick everyone's ass" approach with the occasional close game.
You didn't miss much. Probably saved yourself from having to take a xanex
