Alabama-LSU TV rating

I have a friend in the TV industry who sees the numbers internally before they are announced. It was a gigantic success coming off the less-than-stellar BCS rating:
* Sat night's game garnered a 7.0 rating.
* That is only the 5th game of the season over 4.0.
* The previous high was ND-Oklahoma at 5.9.
He also says that he's hearing rumors of the new SEC TV deal being absolutely montrous.

Wow very impressive if true, especially when you consider USC-Oregon and Oklahoma State-K-State were also playing in the same time slot.

i heard the "real" numbers translated were about 10.5 million watched our game, 2.9 mil saw the USC-Oregon, about 2.6 mil saw the KSU game, and about 2.9 mil saw the Breeder's Cup (which is hilarious to me)

I'm sure he's correct. We had in Upon Further Review:
According to CBS Sports the Alabama at LSU game garnered a 7.0/13 rating/share in overnights, which would make it the highest rated college football game of the season.
