Alec Morris 'fired up' to compete for backup QB job

"AJ didn't come in early and by the middle of the season, he was a very good backup quarterback when he was a freshman," Saban said. "Alec has got a lot of positive qualities and is a very bright guy. I think he'll be able to develop nicely for us."

Incoming Alabama freshman Alec Morris 'fired up' by opportunity to compete for backup QB job

Morris is set to enroll at the end of the month. He'll compete with redshirt freshman Phillip Ely for the backup job behind AJ McCarron.

I'm thrilled that we got him. He's got the size and the arm, plus he comes from one of the highest levels of high school football so he won't be wide eyed and nervous in the SEC.

He is my favorite QB Saban has signed at Bama. I have come to really appreciate AJ but I wasn't a fan at first. I really hope AM turns out to be what I believe he is. A true leader, which will make the rest of his talents all come together to make him one of the best QB's we've ever had.
