Any chance T. Jones ends up 5 star #1 RB in the Nation?

  • I think he is a special RB and may be the top guy out there...I think Bama inked the top RB(Ingram,Richardson and then Yeldon) 3 out of the last 4 years and Jones could make it 4 out of 5!

  • Ingram wasn't the top back I the Country when he committed. He ended up being the best of the bunch though.

  • I think it's crazy neither one of these guys are playing in an all star game this year

  • Oh I know he wasn't the top back per the rankings but neither was Richardson(Brice Brown) or Yeldon but I think Ingram and Richardson proved who was the top guy and so will Yeldon. Also, I like Tenpenny but in my opinion T Jones is the better of the two right now and will make a bigger impact, that along with Jones production against better competition is why I wonder if he may make a run at the top spot, he is already the top All Purpose Back according to alot of folks!

I was watching T. Jones' film again today. The kid is just plain nasty. Out of the four that we either have committed or are after (Tenpenny, Jones, Henry and Kamara), I too believe Jones is the best. There's nothing the kid can't do. We DO NOT want to lose him.....period! He looks strong, not TR3 strong, but strong. He is so elusive and doesn't shy away from lowering the boom on some one either. He hits the hole as hard as I have ever seen out of a high school running back. He has excellent hands, skilled return man. The kid is the total package.

  • I don't think you can go wrong with either one but if Tenpenney comes back fully from his injury then I think he has a better chance at a 5th star.

Tenpenney has great speed, good size and change of direction ability and looks like he can more easily put on that 10-15 lbs of muscle we like to see on our RBs before they get significant PT.

Jones seems a little more elusive and a tiny bit faster but I like Tenpenney's strength and size a little bit more.

By the way is that right? Neither has been invited to an all star game yet?

I agree with this post. Based on highlight film
only (which can be deceiving), Jones looks like the best running back in the country. His combination of power, speed, and elusiveness is impressive!

  • Tenpenny is like TRich and Jones is like Ingram IMO watching film on both. Tenpenny has the chance to be a TRich clone at the capstone.

LOL.....I've added my in-depth sentiments in the "Camp Nuggets from Monday" thread.

Jones is the best high school RB I've EVER seen in person. Recruiting analysts get caught up in this "prototypical" size stuff....when in fact what they "consider prototypical" is actually not based on college and NFL performance.

Personally, I kinda like Jones being underrated. Tyren's dad is "the real deal" when it comes to preparing athletes for excellence. See Tyren as well as his little sister that holds 5 Age Group "World Records" in track. His dad also has a recent NFL Hall of Fame Inductee RB (this RB guy was a beast in college and the NFL and Tyren's style is actually similar as both were All-Purpose guys that could go in the passing game like a Flanker and then carry the rock 30x in a game) to consult if he ever needs to do so....which he really doesn't as the man flat-out is great at preparing athletes.

I think the Bama Coaching Staff could probably attest to Tyren's preparation per his camp performance. He's nasty.........

There is NOT a RB in this 2013 class better than Tyren Jones........How you can run for 2,400 yards and 33 TDs and led your team to a 14-0 record in a Georgia AAAAA Class that had 12 teams ranked in a National 100 Poll and not be more highly ranked is laughable. Tyren also played 3 games last year against 5 star ranked defensive lineman.

****Tyren hasn't attended the SPARQ and Nike NFTC Camps nor the camps run by the various recruiting organizations....Not a coincidence that RBs that have are getting a ratings bump. I mean seriously, at age 37 I can "appear" to be a 5 star in a shorts and t-shirt....but on the football field in pads.........man I'm too old to be taking hits. My point is I know a plethora of 5 star guys in shorts that don't back it up on the field****

They could be...unless you are playing in the top classification in the nation.

Game is at McEachern and they have probably the best high school stadium in the state. I attended the Hillgrove vs McEachern Game in 2011 and it was "off da chain".

Heat3x has a few of his track athletes that play for McEachern, 1 at QB (12th grader) and 1 at RB (10th grader) that are brothers.

They actually participated in the SPARQ Combine in Miami in March 2012 (don't believe in evaluating players via this method but it gives you an idea of their overall athleticism)

    12th Grader McEachern-QB
2nd out of 1171 in overall SPARQ Score
4th fastest out of 1171 in 40 yard dash

    10th Grader McEachern- RB
7th out of 1171 in overall SPARQ Score
2nd fastest out of 1171 in 40 yard dash

Again, these 2 kids are brothers. McEachern plays Grayson at the Corky Kell Classic the week before this game.

I wonder if his opinion is based on film study. Hope he's taking into account the level of competition.

By body type, and jOnes has great vision and a great burst of speed at the line , and can catch the ball out the back field just like Ingram. Tenpenny a freak he's fast, strong and is really good at pass blocking and catching out of the back field just like TRich. Both are great and will be great at Bama. But I prefer tenpenny just like you prefer jones, but there talents is top in the country no doubt.

It's my opinion, Im just a regular fan. I don't live and breath high school film, it's just what I see by watching both on tape. There the top two backs in my eyes but I like tenpenny more and nothing will change my opinion.
