Anybody else surprised USC is recruiting so well?

  • I remember from about 2002-2004 when we were hammered on probation we couldnt signhardly any 4 stars to save our life and USC is signing half of their 15 per right now as 5-stars. It just shocked me a little because last years and this year class are gonna be in the serious dark days for USC when they have about 60 on scholarship and will absolutely have no depth at any position. Maybe the fact that they know they will come and play right away or they are just falling for the BS Kiffin is giving them. Their probation days probably wont be as bad as our because they play is such a shitty conference and with all these great players they are getting commited they will probably be pretty competitive but is anyone else shocked that so many of the top recruits are committing there when they so its gonna be during worst of the probation period?

  • USC was always going to come out better than us. We handled our time terribly, and USC did the opposite.

Yep, I'd guess they studied how we did and wrote a cheat sheet for "What not to do".

  • We joke about Lame Kitten but the boy is a good recruiter and not a bad coach. Plus USC is a cool name with the kids on the West Coast. Even in bad times LA is a cool town to go to college in. Hollywood is a big draw. I don't know why UCLA doesn't do better. Maybe they've just had crappy coaches for so long that its lost its appeal. But USC has always been the name team out there and until they go 6-6 for 20 years they'll be a hot place until the sun burns out.

  • Well, they are in southern California so, that probably doesn't hurt. shrug

My son was recruited by USC to play golf. Taken to all the famous courses, the sights of L.A, and FYI, USC is a beautiful campus, and the tailgating/walk from it to the LA coliseum is nice. Band playing, etc. Did I mention it's a private school, very expensive and very highly academically rated, and the home to the power brokers of the West Coast?Lastly, the girls. Drop dead gorgeous rich girls.I'm a Bama grad living in Destin but honestly, their presentation is second to none, and I can only imagine if my son was a 6'4' , 250 lb. linebacker. Don't fall for it located in bad part of town, etc., etc. Having done this deal it's not only conceivable they recruit well, it's hardly possible for them not to. I think their advantages are so overwhelming that it's obvious, some of us can't see it because we're SEC blind, like the Grove and town square in Oxford or Quad and strip in Ttown , as examples, make up for it.Many people prefer a high end sports car to a tricked up Ford truck.

^^ This about sums it up, along with TheHit's post above regarding Bama's handling of the situation. Bama is in great position recruiting with the best coach in football, but USC can stay pretty much on-par based on the attributes that hardly any other program in the nation (if any program at all) can compete with.
