Anybody else think Auburn is gonna be really bad this year?

I see them for sure losing to Bama, LSU, and UGA, and they'll probably manage to win 2 or 3 out of A&M, Clumpson, Arky, MSU and Vandy.

I think Clempson and Arky will out talent them. A&M will probably rush for 300 against them. Vandy will out coach them. MSU...well, that will probably be one of the ugliest games played in the SEC all season.

I think they will be ok. Each year people post how bad they will be and seldom do they fall on their face. They have good players and stupid luck. That should equate to 8 or more wins.

Pre-season I said they would win 8 games last year, but this year I can't see it.

  • If every ball bounces the right way they go 8-4, but they'll likely be 6-6. We'll know what/where Auburn is after week four. If they're 1-3 going into their bye week they're in trouble. Would love to see them lose @ Vandy and have another 2008.

  • They are going to be awful. Two new coordinators, an average head coach, an inexperienced offensive line, an average (at best) qb situation, awful linebackers, a bad strength and conditioning program, a team filled with a bunch of quitters, and a mediocre and average secondary. Did I leave anything out?

I had Arky in the for sure loss column at first, but I changed it just b/c of the coaching situation being an unknown. Clump should beat them, but clump is the barn with a lake, you know, so you never know with them. I'm leaning towards A&M winning that one. I think they'll beat MSU, Ole Sis, and Vandy, though I'd love to see another 2008.

  • 6-6 with as low as 4 wins & as high as 8 wins as it looks to me right now. I believe a lot will depend on their QB play. I want us to beat them bad on the scoreboard at Bryant-Denny this year.

  • i think if they pull a few rabbits out their hat they will make it to 5-7

  • You guys are missing that they have 2 new coordinaters. These guys will come in trying to kick some ass. Until I see that they suck AU has enough talent to win 9-10 games. I would not bet against them for awhile.

  • Auburn should be good every year given its resources and tradition. They've recruited pretty well recently too. I think 8 wins is realistic for them this year. I'm more interested in how many games they get blown out and how they play down the stretch. They really got exposed against top-tier sec teams this year and also didn't seem to improve as the season evolved. Also, they were fortunate against Utah St, MSU, and South Carolina.

I was surprised how big of a step back they took last year. If Chizik wins 8 this year but still gets blown out against top-tier teams and is not in the running for the SEC west I am curious how he'll be viewed. After four years to build a program that was in pretty good shape when he arrived, I expect this would not sit well with the Auburn fan base.

Sorry no way in heck they win 10 games.

    Too much going against them.

And I am not saying this just because I am an Alabama fan and I hate them, but because I trully believe they are gonna be really bad this year (I honestly believe they will win 6 games).

I mean between these 8 teams, tell me where you see 3 wins or more:

Clemson, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Texas AM, Georgia, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas?

I think Auburn's defense will be better but I think they will have one of the worst 3 offenses in the SEC this year. They won't pull rabbits out of their ass like they did last year (they should have been 5-7 or 6-6).

Give your opinions on how you think they will do this year not because you hate them, but as a football fan what you honestly think their record will be.

I think a lot depends on how they start. If they beat Clemson early then I think they have alot of confidence moving forward and probably pull out a close game or two they may otherwise lose.

  • I don't think the fact that their head coach declared them one more recruiting class away is an especially good sign. The jokes about the perpetual "young team" sure get plenty of ammunition.

But the minute VanGorder stepped onto the plains their defense became the 1974 Pittsburg Steelers, and their new OC is responsible for every pass Tom Brady has ever completed, so I'm thinking about 17 wins this season.

  • New offensive system +old offensive system players = 5-7.

  • I think they're a 9 win team, +/- 1. Too many 2nd year starters too have a disastrous year IMO.

I happen to agree on the eventual maturing talent. But I still see 8 wins +/-1 imo.

I think they can possibly beat vandy, ms state, and possibly tx a&m. They may win 6 games 7 if a lot of things fall their way.

This is probably right. I think their best case scenario is 2005 Bama: Win 10 games, have season that looks good on paper, lose all the games that matter, ultimately have meaningless season that makes fanbase feel good, lots of "wait until next year" talk.
