    I'm not sure if that's the actual reason or not because I would say there are many, but I would agree that Saban just put his palm print all up in the grill of all-barn nation.

  • While I dont think anyone has proof that they continued to recruit Corey Grant, this indeed was a bitch slapping of epic proportion.

  • You have to know your enemies tactics to be succesful. Think about what happened last year with CK and BC.

  • Guys, Corey Grant leaving was nothing of a surprise. Dee Hart was already ahead of him in the line-up after only being on campus for 2 months. He was never going to play RB for us. Now, we have an extra scholly to give out.

    ^^^^^This but I would never say never about a kid though. Corey Grant is a very good RB but not a great fit for a pro style offense and appeared to be getting lost in the depth chart. On the other hand, he does fit into AU's system well and they have PT to offer an in-state kid. No brainer IMO.

  • I think the reason is that TJ didn't want those hounds, luper and trooper all over him when he did it. I imagine he told us that and we said here's what we can do. Not a rocket scientist but I think we can all figure it out unless you have an aub mentality that if you lose out it was a diabolical plot. The guy just wants to be left alone. I'm sure that'll happen. wink wink.

  • Maybe I'm naive but I don't believe the timing of this was ochestrated by our staff in any way. I think Yeldon knew he wanted to swtich and the best way to minimize the blow back from AU was to wait to announce it before the dead period. I think it's as simple as that.

  • Probably just wanted to commit to Bama and be left alone. Who can blame him? If it weren't the dead period, he knew that the Luper/Trooper pooper scooper would show up in some kind of pimped out tour bus, wearing bowling shirts and make balloon animals in his front yard.

    agree. as much as CNS plans out everything and every angle, i don't think he finds it necessary to orchestrate such an event. doubt he has time for all that mess

    LOL, I disagree but I think Yeldon probably intiated it. Saying something to the effect I am playing for Bama but the AU coaches will harrass me. I don't really want to deal with it. Bama coaches took it from there. I bet Saban definitely has a plan for something like this because it pertains to recruiting. His specialty.

    no. I don't think Saban plays games - period. I think he recruits with realistic expectations and promotes personal development as much as football and that is what really makes a difference. Alabama is only targeting recruits with good character for the most part.

    JMO, but I would think the timing would be to cut down on the pressure that TJ would face from the Auburn Coaches. Not to rub Auburns face in anything, I believe as Radioman1 stated, CNS is above playing games with anyone. IMO he just wanted the decision to be as painless as possible for TJ. RTR
