Speaking of how someone ripped up State, do you guys remember what Kennedy Winston always did to them at the Hump? Kennedy was a great player, but he was like a shark seeing blood when he saw State at the Hump. During his last season, Alabama had to win in StarkVegas to get into the NCAA tournament. For most of the second half, the only "play" Gottfried called was a series of isolations for Winston. He lit State up. He is still one of the best basketball players I have ever seen in person. He also had one of the nastiest recruitments I have ever witnessed as well. You are right, those were good times.

That game was the most out of leftfield game I've ever watched. That team was a bunch of underachieving dogs, and then all of a sudden on Sunday afternoon in Starkville they figured it out.
Yep........he was a great player. It's a shame he left early. Gottfried had a lot of those guys. Wallace (who ended up being ok after 3-4 years of development in the NBA), Grizzard, Cotton, Winston, Davidson.

The stars aligned for that team. They went on like a 10 game winning streak just to make the tournament. Once they got into the NCAA tournament, the rest was history. They got absolutely perfect match ups all the way to the elite eight. We even got the perfect ripe to be beaten 2 seed Stanford. However, that dream came to a crashing halt when we ran into UCONN. Still a good run. Very proud of what that team accomplished.

That UConn team was one of the best teams of the last 20 years. They played 1 close game the entire tournament. Ben Gordon, Okafor, Villanueva, Hilton Armstrong, Josh Boone, Marcus Williams, Denham Brown....................man. What a roster.

Anybody remember that State game when Shelton scored 135 pts?
