Regarding the article itself which started this thread ... it was a good article, and I appreciate the frank assessment. My only beef with it is that, yet again with articles about this situation, it says Saban pulled the guy's scholarship. This is becoming a pet peeve of mine on this issue. Saban did not pull the guy's scholarship. That would imply the guy had no offer to come to Bama. He did have an offer; it just had conditions on it - wait a few months, get your knee better. It's giving the general public the wrong impression and I think it is irresponsible journalism to use this language.
I am a lawyer and if I were this imprecise in a brief, I'd be slammed by the other side and ultimately, by a judge.

1) My guess is that he either had no letter to sign or else he had a different letter which offered him a scholarship in January 2013. I don't see how it could be otherwise. 2) See number 1. 3) I'm guessing some of them would be ineligible and if you played them, you'd have to forfeit the game.

I don't understand what's wrong with having a cutthroat head football coach.
In fact, while I don't mind if our football coach gives the impression of being a choir boy while he's generating revenue & accepting awards on behalf of our program, I want the son of bitch to be about as cutthroat as they come just about the rest of the time he's working.
That includes, unfortunately, when he's been told by the SEC that he's got to be as precise with the 25 players he's bringing in as he can be, & that there's no room for error, & he's deciding between bringing in a healthy abled body or one who's potentially got a bum knee & played on it for a month.
