Article about Upshaw on Packers.com

  • “If you were a team that plays a 3-4 defense and you were looking for a stand-up rusher, who’s the guy you’d draft?” a scout was asked.

Without hesitation, the scout ran his finger down the South’s roster until it stopped on the name of No. 41, Courtney Upshaw.

I don't think there's any way it happens, but I'd love for my Packers to draft Upshaw. Green Bay had zero pass rush this season because teams concentrated on stopping Clay Matthews, and nobody else stepped up.

  • I know we're not supposed to "covet", but as a Packers fan I am DYING to get Upshaw on our line opposite Clay. I think he would absolutely flourish in our defense and make us instantly better.

I agree. The Packers D definitely needs more pass rushers, and our LB position (outside of Matthews and Bishop) is pretty weak and also fairly soft. Upshaw would bring a much needed nasty streak, along with tenacity, toughness, and his obvious skills as a pass rusher. Would instantly upgrade the defense. I'd be ecstatic if this somehow happens.

I'd also love it if Barron fell in our laps (if Collins ends up retiring), but I think the Jets will almost certainly take him at 16.

  • I've been a packers fan for all of my football awareness life, 45 years, and being able to contain my emotions with Matthews and Upshaw being on opposite sides is very hard. I would love for Upshaw to be in Green Bay.

Ha, funny, cause I said the exact thing earlier today to my friend and fellow Saints fan. Upshaw would be a HUGE pick if he somehow fell to the Saints.

  • i'll hope he ends on a south team that shows up on tv. i got lucky when ingram/julio went to the saints/falcons. coudn't have been more perfect.
