Auburn issues statement about basketball program

Auburn AD Jay Jacobs had issued a statement supporting Tony Barbee, saying he expects "our program to show significant improvement" under him.

If you add the number of wins they had in basketball and add that to the number of wins they had in football, it is still less than the number of wins BAMA had in football alone...SIAP...Anyway, it will be tough for him next year because just like every year it seems in football and in men's hoops I am sure his team will be "young and inexperienced..."

BTW, Barbee makes $1.5 million annually.

Would surprise me if they haven't begun back-channel discussions
with Bruce Pearl's people. That program needs an injection of "look
at me" in the worst way.

Pearl can do a hell of a lot better than Auburn even with his NCAA history. He'd be a great fit for their culture though IMO. Either way I think he'll get a higher profile job.

How Jay Jacobs looks at anyone and gives them a vote of confidence is beyond me. auburn's president needs to be giving Jacobs the same assessment.

Much like their fans thinking they were getting Petrino they will all think they are hiring pearl this time. However they will prolly hire another coach that is 1 or 2 years removed from being an assistant for a big name coach.
