Pictures are from Gore Bay, Ontario.. It's on Manitoulin Island in the North Channel between Lake Huron and Lake superior. I visited there in 1966. Caught a 6 3/4 pound Pike in Ice Lake. The Island was pretty undeveloped back then. May still be that way. You could hear wolves howling at night.

I'll bet the insect population was "deveolped". Spent that same summer in Quetico Provincal Park north of Ely Minnesota and while the fishing was great, and seeing all the wildlife (including bears) was awesome, the bugs darn near ruined it all.
Isn't it interesting how threads can meander off topic?
