Bama Basketball!!

  • I think anything more than 6 to 7 loses this year will be somewhat disappointing.Schedule sets up good.Looking for a good year out of the B Ball team.

  • Ummm really? You do realize we lost are two best scorers. Our best post defender. Our best wing player. Our best 3 point shooter. Our backup point, and if Retin was so good how could he not beat out Eblen? There is a reason we didn't even receive any votes this year in the polls.

  • In basketball its easier to replace ur talent. This aint football. We are filling those spots with big talent. Kentucky and several teams do it every year. We lost 11 last year and blew some games we shouldnt have lost prob because of some rocky situations with certain players last year. I dont think its at all wrong to expect 3 or 4 fewer loses than we had last year.

  • It's not attitude. It's facts I think we will be ok, but right now we are relying on two centers who have limited experience, no offensive skill at all and injury prone. We have a PF who didn't want to defend or RB, but is good at scoring.

We have a good new wing in Pollard. Lacey, Randolph and Cooper all return, and hopefully will have improved. However our biggest problems is that we had many guys the last few years not develop offensively at all.

Releford took a step back last year. Retin has never played any college ball, and had limited exposure to any talent while overseas. There was a reason why he didn't beat out Eblen last year. Steele is back which is great since he is a calming influence, but he is injury prone as well. The only good thing right now is that the West is much weaker than the East.

Umm we replaced TM, who was a junior with a true freshman DP. Without TM helping in the early part of the year we don't have one victory over any Top 50 teams. We did not replace JM. We did not replace Hank. We replaced Eblen with Retin, who has never sniffed competitive bball but oozes athleticism.

  • Yea well i dont think we do any worse than last year. If coach Grant can get VCU level players to preform on the big stage against Superior teams i think he can get our guys to improve this year. We could show our youth and under perform. I m excited though about the team this year.

  • We brought in one kid. We lost 50% of our scoring %, 45% of our rebounding %, and 75 % of our blocks %, and 30 % of the steals. If you combined all the numbers of the 3 big men replacing JG, they wouldn't come close to him in any statistic unless you count total number of fouls.

I think Pollard is going to be a good one, but we didn't improve Roster wise, we went backward. We can only hope that Pollard can equal what TM produced when he wasn't having a total meltdown.

So if we suck this year how do you feel about coach grant.

We don't score enough to be that good. We are great on defense but in basketball you have to score.

You gotta put pressure on them. We put huge pressure on the Football team to win. They will do it i got faith.

  • I think he get's another year. Honestly we don't have any depth down low, and we need to hit it big in recruiting this year. Taylor and Hale will help, but we still need some more bodies. Grant needs to show some improvement on the offensive end, and in developing talent. He is earning a top 15 salary in the country, yet he has been riding the coattails of his one NCAA victory over a middle of the road Duke team that year to success. VCU has been vastly improved since he left under Smart, who has 6 NCAA victories in 2 years of coaching compared to Grant with 1 in 6 years of coaching.

Also the East is brutal this year. UK, Florida, Mizzou, SC, and UT could be good this year, and never count out Vandy. The west is well... the west. Not great and most everyone in the country would agree on that

  • Lol my original post got down voted. Sad that u cant expect ur basketball team to do good and people get upset about it. Owell its hard to change the environment when no one cares about it.

    Divisions are gone brah.

I know the divisions are gone, but that's still the east side no matter what they call it now, and we are still in the west. All the records go to the same title, but to everyone here it will always be the East and West teams.

  • And anyone who is that concerned about losing Green and Mitchell need to go watch the game @ Arkansas from last year. I agree with the op and think we will be a better team than last year.

yea but the schedule is still scheduled like the old east and west. We only play the east teams once still except for georgia and Tenn.

Okay but why even mention which side is better? The divisional scheduling format is gone.

the only thing i see changed is we are playign Georgia twice we always play tenn twice. what else changed.

  • Because in almost all SEC sports those are the divisions. The East side has always been the better basketball side. Mentioning it doesn't change the schedule.

"The only good thing right now is that the West is much weaker than the East"

Explain to me how it is good that the West is weaker than the East then.

We play everyone once. We play Auburn a second time. Then we play 4 other teams a second time. Those 4 teams rotate every year.
