Bama Basketball!!

  • Im verry high on CAG and th recent classes hes brought in, yet I wanna see more offense this season. Really shouldnt be any reason why they wouldnt have better offensive sets this season with th talent there..

We play everyone once. We play Auburn a second time. Then we play 4 other teams a second time. Those 4 teams rotate every year.

ok i didnt know those 4 rotated. Must have missed it. I kinda like that. I also like the no divisions even though i will always think of those teams as east and west teams.

  • Love CAG, and I'm optimistic about the season as a whole, but these are our first 8 conference games. Pretty tough row to hoe. We also play a good number of road games in the non-con.

    01/08/13 at Missouri * Columbia, Mo. 6:00 p.m. CT
    01/12/13 vs. Tennessee * Tuscaloosa, Ala. 12:00 p.m. CT
01/16/13 at Mississippi State * Starkville, Miss. 8:00 p.m. CT
    01/19/13 vs. Texas A&M * Tuscaloosa, Ala. 5:00 p.m. CT
    01/22/13 vs. Kentucky * Tuscaloosa, Ala. 8:00 p.m. CT
    01/26/13 at Tennessee * Knoxville, Tenn. 1:00 p.m. CT
    01/31/13 vs. Arkansas * Tuscaloosa, Ala. 8:00 p.m. CT
    02/02/13 at Vanderbilt * Nashville, Tenn. 3:00 p.m. CT

I do think we'll score better this year and continue to play good defense. We could sure use a couple more high energy forwards to go along w/ Jacobs/Gueye/Engstrom.

If we can get through those 6-2 or 7-1 that would be great. 8-0 and CAG would be halfway to SEC coach of the year!

  • We always are near the top in fg% allowed and ppg allowed, but we still lose a lot. That is bad offensive coaching. We have talent offensively, but the slowed down half court offense doesn't fit us. You must let these guys run the floor.

  • Dude we only have 10 players on the roster. Let's get real here.

Same amount we had last year after Mitchell was suspended.

    Edit: nvm we had 11.

We brought in one kid. We lost 50% of our scoring %, 45% of our rebounding %, and 75 % of our blocks %, and 30 % of the steals. If you combined all the numbers of the 3 big men replacing JG, they wouldn't come close to him in any statistic unless you count total number of fouls.

I think Pollard is going to be a good one, but we didn't improve Roster wise, we went backward. We can only hope that Pollard can equal what TM produced when he wasn't having a total meltdown.

We also lost 100% of the attitude.

Ummm really? You do realize we lost are two best scorers. Our best post defender. Our best wing player. Our best 3 point shooter. Our backup point, and if Retin was so good how could he not beat out Eblen? There is a reason we didn't even receive any votes this year in the polls.

Panties need to be loosened bro!

  • We are terribly thin on the front line. Jacobs showed flashes of being really good last year and by season's end I felt like he was as reliable a scorer as Green when healthy. Pollard needs to contribute quick as a true freshman.

We've seen Gueye and Engstrom and they are....offensively challenged, to put it nicely.

We will have to continue to beat people 55-53 because I don't see the offensive firepower on this team. Lacey and Randolph can heat it up on occasion.

I think the X-factor guys on this team are Steele and Coop. They're gonna have to fight for some boards as undersized forwards/oversized guards. If our bigs get in any kind of foul trouble, those 2 may have to bang with some folks and gut out some wins.

You gotta put pressure on them. We put huge pressure on the Football team to win. They will do it i got faith.

Please don't compare Alabama Football with Alabama Basketball.... 2 different ends of the spectrum.

In my opinion, The season will be a success if we make the NCAA tournament and win one game.

Doesn't matter how many losses as long as we get in the tournament.

  • I dont expect any particular number of wins or losses. For me, a good season would be one in which Bama qualifies easily for the tournament (no bubble watch BS) and advances at least through one round. I think Bama has the talent to accomplish those goals. Alabama basketball should be tournament worthy at 3 out of every 4 years from this year on.

It's not attitude. It's facts I think we will be ok, but right now we are relying on two centers who have limited experience, no offensive skill at all and injury prone. We have a PF who didn't want to defend or RB, but is good at scoring.

We have a good new wing in Pollard. Lacey, Randolph and Cooper all return, and hopefully will have improved. However our biggest problems is that we had many guys the last few years not develop offensively at all.

Releford took a step back last year. Retin has never played any college ball, and had limited exposure to any talent while overseas. There was a reason why he didn't beat out Eblen last year. Steele is back which is great since he is a calming influence, but he is injury prone as well. The only good thing right now is that the West is much weaker than the East.

Yes, there was a reason he didn't beat out Eblen as backup pg last year, he redshirted. RO was only 17 years old last year, back off. He is very athletic, according to his teammates, and will fit very well in CAG's pressing defense. Disappointing to see someone spouting off when they don't include all the facts. RTR!!!

I'm thinking we will not be seeing many 55-53 games, I think we will see this team press all of the court almost all of the time this year, leading to higher scoring games. Also, give Moose a break, he didn't have his legs under him last year. I think we will see a vastly different player in him this year. Hopefully, Jacobs will improve on the defenisve end, if he does, I think you will see a rather small lineup on the court a lot this year in Coop & Pollard at the 4 spot, Jacobs at center, and the wings a combo of Randolph, Lacey, Steele & Retin. CAG has already stated this team has a lot of diversity, in that many guys can play multiple positions, so I'm optimistic as well at this time.

However, as another poster stated, we won't begin to find out for another 3 weeks. Keep the faith, my Crimson brothers! RTR!!!

Before long, imo CAG will begin to have Bama hoops nearing the level of Bama football. We will be a strong 2-sport school, similar to Texas and Florida. RTR!!!
