Bama Basketball!!

I'm thinking we will not be seeing many 55-53 games, I think we will see this team press all of the court almost all of the time this year, leading to higher scoring games. Also, give Moose a break, he didn't have his legs under him last year. I think we will see a vastly different player in him this year. Hopefully, Jacobs will improve on the defenisve end, if he does, I think you will see a rather small lineup on the court a lot this year in Coop & Pollard at the 4 spot, Jacobs at center, and the wings a combo of Randolph, Lacey, Steele & Retin. CAG has already stated this team has a lot of diversity, in that many guys can play multiple positions, so I'm optimistic as well at this time.

However, as another poster stated, we won't begin to find out for another 3 weeks. Keep the faith, my Crimson brothers! RTR!!!

We've pressed and played hellacious defense ever since Grant got here, and we've never been a high-scoring team. We just lack outside shooters, but I understand Lacey, Cooper, Randolph, etc. were young last year and will eventually be better offensively than they showed.

I just don't see us being able to run up and down the floor with many teams in the league, but that's not a bad thing necessarily. I like the kind of style we play. As Chris Hines said 2 years ago, we have a "junkyard dog" mentality. If we get to 65, I feel really good about our chances most nights.

Agreed, if we score 65 we have a good shot to win and if we score above 70, we are almost a lock to win, imo. I also agree we have played great defense under CAG, however, I thought CAG would press way more than he has to date. We have pressed some in each game, however, we don't or still haven't pressed the majority of many games, which is what he says he believes in. Remember, his team slogan is, "94 both ways," I just haven't seen that as regularly as that slogan implies. RTR!!!

I actually think, while our roster doesn't have the prototype size/depth for the forward spots, that we are just now getting the type of experience at the 1-3 spots to run the whole game. I don't think there is enough optimism for our guards. They were mostly freshmen last year, and while they had a lot of freshman moments, they are supremely talented. This team may win 19 games or 27 games, but either way, will be a tough out for most anyone. I agree with one of the other posters that you can't logically talk about CMG anymore (IMO couldnt last year either), but the rebuild job was going to be long. I expect somewhere between this season and 2 seasons down the road that this team could look a lot like the old Nolan Richardson teams of the early 90's. Don't much care for Nolan, but loved the 40 minutes of hell philosophy and the great games we had with them.

  • This team finally resembles a Grant bball team. The past few years he's been limited to playing a slow paced offensive scheme due to Jamychal Green. Now he has long athletic guards that can defend well and run even better. This team will resemble his teams at Virgina Commonwealth. And for anyone that watched those teams you know that it will be fun to watch.

Before long, imo CAG will begin to have Bama hoops nearing the level of Bama football. We will be a strong 2-sport school, similar to Texas and Florida. RTR!!!

    We're already a 3 sport school.

  • I had faith too crimsontemplar!! We lack a legitimate post player but if we can just get some solid d from Moussa and Karl and say maybe 10 points and 10 boards we will be a force to be reckoning with. Trev, Lacey, cooper and Randolph have all improved tremendously in the offseason . Retin looked pretty good tonight I think he can spell trev and we've got a nasty workhorse in Steele. Pollard with a lot of length and athleticism. I'm excited . Best grant team we be had by far. Also of nick Jacobs can just slow down a little bit in the paint I think he can give us 8-10 points and 5 rebounds a game.

Ummm really? You do realize we lost are two best scorers. Our best post defender. Our best wing player. Our best 3 point shooter. Our backup point, and if Retin was so good how could he not beat out Eblen? There is a reason we didn't even receive any votes this year in the polls.

You are not considering the improvement Lacey, Cooper, Randolph, and Jacobs have likely made from their freshman to sophomore seasons. We will be better than last year. Seven losses is not a stretch.

lol at you for thinking the reason retin didnt play last year was because "he couldn't beat out eblen"
