City of Grambling Files Request to Vacate Paterno's Wins

  • Daup said...

Don't agree with any of those decisions either. I think they should stop using it altogether unless something happens like the "Imagine" series that a player would not have gone to a university without illegal incentives to do so. Nobody really pays attention to it anyway. For example, they can claim that Ohio State still hasn't beaten an SEC team, and sure it is fun to rub their faces in it, but at the end of the day we all saw that they won the game.

Ok, i see what your saying.

But people do pay attention to it. They had a coach that is leading college football in wins right now that was the main part of the cover up and your saying they shouldn't punish him but they should punish the "team" that he is no longer a part of in another way?

How should they be punished? Or do you think they don't deserve it?

This is interesting...not sure how far this will go with the NCAA but it is interesting.

An attorney for the city of Grambling, La., has filed a request to the NCAA asking the governing body vacate some of Joe Paterno's record 409 Division I victories.

Grambling is the home of Grambling State University. Coach Eddie Robinson led Grambling to 408 victories during his career with the Tigers, a total that was passed by Paterno less than two weeks before he was fired as the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal broke.

Grambling athletic director Percy Caldwell said he had no knowledge of the request and that the school was not involved.

Is anyone suprised at this? What a bunch of pathetic you know whats down in LA. Ask ole Eddie to bring his ass back and catch up or STFU!

Would love to see a pic of this attorney who wants to file this lawsuit.

  • Regardless of whether or not you agree with a punishment similar to what has been suggested, I think it’s an inappropriate and absurdly stupid move for attorneys for the city of Grambling to proactively voice this. All that does is make the city look completely out of touch in terms of priorities. Come one, that’s your concern! Plus it’s just dumb, the NCAA is already looking into this, they have announced such intentions publicly. To get out in front of it with a selfish and misaligned legal request is at best going to be net neutral in the NCAA decisions and at worst will just simply piss the decision makers off. Let it all play out and you may get what you want anyway, but this is just stupid.
