  • As an Oxford alum, I am sorta glad that this happened because it gives us the division. However, Oxford had a similar situation happen to them in '07 and, for that, I sympathize with Clay Chalkville. We had a dominant team in '07 that could have won the whole sha-bang but got the shaft because one of our players was ineligible.

I'm not a fan of this decision by AHSAA. I am in no way a CCHS fan; I am a Hewitt-Trussville graduate from one of the first split classes. However, AHSAA is only punishing the kids for something that they didn't have anything to do with. The coaches and administration should pay, but not the kids. In my opinion, AHSAA should let them keep playing, but not give CCHS their gate allotment from the playoff games or make CCHS go on the road for every game. I have seen CCHS play this year and they were by far superior to their opponents...don't punish the kids for the mistakes of adults.

agreed. This reeks of the crap the NCAA pulls: punishing the players and fans, who are by and far innocent, whilst the perpetrators can do what they want with no repercussions...

Bottom line is Clay knowlingly broke the rules,, while I am sorry the kids suffer, rules are rules, and if you bend them for Clay, what do you do the next time?

Correct...It could have been avoided, but they broke the rules. It sucks, but it is what it is...

  • If you only knew the truth behind the Prattville mess this would make you throw up. It may all eventually come out, the connections between PHS and the AHSAA (it runs long and deep). I will be the first to say rules are rules and if they are broken there should be consequences, but the enforcement must be blind and consistent. The hypocrisy of the AHSAA has no limits. Prattville still has illegal players or players manipulating the system to be eligible. Trust me, I am more than qualified to voice an opinion.

  • Didn't read the article but in some cases the school ask before the year for a ruling and the AHSAA says he is fine to play. Then later in the year somebody says something and the ahsaa goes back and changes their original reuling and that is the problem I have with them.If you say someone can play and they play you should not go back nine or ten games in the year and rule the other way that just hurts the kids and that is wrong

    This guy gets it.

  • The transcripts sent to Restoration Academy and to Clay by Huffman had nothing on them stating that the kid was in bad standing from the school. The kid made a legal move into the zone before enrolling. Clay had no wrongdoing in this case.

Not to mention what they let Hoover get away with in years past!

You would be surprised at the players that have tried to move into Hoover to play football that have been turned away due to AHSAA rules. Hoover's AD is a stickler for the rules and she does not get any pressure to break them.

  • Clay Chalkville’s appeal was denied today. Their appeal was denied faster than Narrion’s story was blown up yesterday. Faster than BBD’s 1992 Spelling Bee Championship was revoked for improper use of a Webster’s. Faster than BBD shat himself yesterday when he returned from spin class to see his BOL cred trashed. Faster than BBD’s fake business was uncovered as a sham. Faster than BBD’s Who’s who of American High School Students for his world class finger painting skills was taken away. I know, I know… No free NFL tickets in 1.5 years for some team in the Southeast. If you want to challenge me to some Championship level 4 square, you can find me in any 1 of the 5 Chik Fila’s in the Birmingham area. If you’re not man enough for that, I’m also a World Class Chucky Cheese Skee-ball player. 2 time World Champ and winner of the Golden Balls award handed out by Mr. Chucky Cheese himself.

So...what you are saying is that if Auburn paid for Cam, they should not have had to forfeit any games or vacate the BCS? Because, after all, let's not punish the kids, right? Just make Chizik and Trooper pay, right?
