    As well as Devonta Pollard...

    His mistake was not filling out the roster this year from a depth standpoint and some would argue he targets players that likely won't sign here. But to say we battle Troy and Southern Miss for players is laughable.

    Pollard, Lacey, Rele, coop, Randolph were all highly recruited and at the time, Hurts seemed like a big get. He went after some big targets this year and missed. If anything he's been knocked for aiming too high without back up plans

  • I'm pretty sure yall thought the same thing about Grant...Sorry for wanting a winner in basketball. Just because its an sport other than football. BTW I hope my internet girlfriend is real maybe I need to check it out more.

  • Yeah, we're just going to start competing with Duke and Kentucky for recruits because we got a new coach from a CAA school. What you are suggesting is not that dissimilar from expecting Troy and Southern Miss to compete with us in football. You vastly overestimate the perception of our program.

    Also, You Don't Need To Capitalize Every Word. In Fact, It's Really Annoying. Proper punctuation helps too. And "hopely" isn't a word.

  • Grant is not Saban. Bama bball is not Bama football. I want a winner as much as anyone. But, it's going to take time, and patience, to build a program. We were in worse shape when Gottfried left than most realize. The talent level has gone in the right direction no matter what you want to say or believe. If we are not competing for the SEC, at least the West, and a top 4-5 seed by the 2014-15 season...then I'll be beating the drum louder than anyone.

    Just support the program. Crazy what kind of difference that might make...

    So you are saying CAG needs six years? I really like CAG and want him to succeed but that is ridiculous. The program was not in that bad of shape.

  • Well said. We need to support the program for him to have a chance. Student support was good for the UT game last week. Plenty of empty seats elsewhere. Grant is trying to build the program the right way and get good people at the same time. He gave a good interview a week ago on a B'ham station. He is trying to do this the right way and get guys with character as opposed to getting characters. I hope he gets it done.

    He did miscalculate in retrospect with all these injuries.

    There are no divisions in SEC basketball. When there were, we won the West and were one game back from the regular-season SEC champion, Florida.

    Basketball is not that different from football. The schools that compete on a yearly basis are the teams that invest in and commit to it. We don't.

    Okay, excuse me....I misspoke. Compete for a top seed in the SEC. Football and basketball ARE different. Especially in the sense that we are not a blue blood, or even a top 30-35 program. Yes, it does take time to get there unless you commit a lot more than we have as fans and more than our university has been willing to commit up to this point.

    And, to the guy a few posts back...I named the seasons following this one because the team will be all Grant recruits and the 2011 class will be upperclassmen.
