Coach Saban wont take a QB commit if he hasnt seen the kid

  • throw in camp. There it is for all the we need a 5 star QB people. If they arent willing to throw in camp they can go to a school that doesnt evaluate its prospects as thouroughly as Nick Saban. In the end Alabama will end up with a QB who is better fit four Alabama's offense.

    Not sure how this changes anything that has been said by any poster. Keil and Winston threw for Bama, were regarded as elite, and were our top 2 choices. What is the point?

    Every time a top QB commits we get the cry baby posts asking why we aren't in on them. Well if he's commiting before camp season, you don't have to wonder anymore. If a kid can't wait to throw in camp he's not coming to Bama

  • LOL yeah the way some fans talk I could play qb for Bama and we'd still win. I'm slow, weigh more than the avg qb, love contact have an ugly spiral and haven't played competitive football for several years now unless Madden counts.

  • This is fine but you can't discount stars completely. Since Saban has been here, three QB's have received significant playing time. JPW- rated 3 stars, very average college QB; GMac - rated 3 stars, very average college QB; AJ- rated 4 stars, top 10 QB in the country, miles better than JPW and GMac, and that gap will only expand this year. So, to summarize, the best QB that has played at Alabama under Nick Saban was also the highest rated out of high school.

    I agree. Im not commenting on 3 star vs 4 star. Just pointing out that Alabama's coach will not take a commit from a 10 star if he wont camp. I think the QB position has become the second most misevaluated position on recruiting sites right behind WR. I dont trust 4-5 star rankings for WR's or QB's.

    He probably wouldve committed last week if Coach didnt have that rule and thats my point. Alabama is not struggling to sign an elite QB. Like everything else with our anal retentive coach, there is a process that must be followed by prospective QB's.

    Once Saban see's him throwing the firm offer will be in place. Coach just wants to see him throw theres nothing wrong with that and Bateman understands that.
