Coach grant

  • Staff please don't delete. Please allow this thread to discuss him.

    I am not a supporter. I wanted mike Anderson.

    edit cause its an insignificant point that took away from the bigger topic. Tonight isn't the point.

    However, coach grant had a lack of passion tonight. He should have defended our players. He should have fought as hard as he asks our players to fight.

    Coach saban fights for our guys on every play no matter what. Coach grant gives up.

    It's no wonder our players seem full of quit. Their coach seems to handle adversity worse than they do.

    From an X an O standpoint I do think coach grant is good on defense. However he has shown an inability to create buy in and to inspire. Inspiration is 75% of coaching. Winning the mental battle is the difference between 2010 and 2011 on our football team.

    I hope this thread stays civil but has a good discussion on what is going on and where we go from here.

    When your big guys are Jacobs and Mooosa what else can you do? I blame CAG for that he recruited those guys but it's not like there are lots of options offensively.

    I blame grant for the L but the officials for the way the game looked.

    Grant should have fought for our players. He didnt.

    There will never be a scenario where its on for refs to allow what they allowed tonight. However that's not an excuse for losing especially when the coach finished the game.

    Lacey, Releford, Pollard, Jacobs, and Cooper ALL were scorers in high school. Don't tell me we don't have options....he has ruined these guys with hard nosed stubborn approach that focuses on points off turnovers.

    At least Jacobs can shoot the ball, moose just fiddle farts around and looses the ball everytime.

    We pass up better shots early in the clock to take worse ones later.
    Our passes and handoffs serve no purpose to manipulate the defense other then to eat shot clock
    All of our action is on the perimeter above the FT line. We rarely drive and dish

    Shizzle you keep referencing that our bigs are bad. You are right. They are. But to claim that = no offensive options is absolutely incorrect. There are things that can be done. I've seen plenty of guard heavy offenses have much more success than this. He's just being stubborn. He needs to hire help or he'll be gone.
    Next year will be his last if he doesn't get introspective and ask for help

  • I can't do it anymore. I've tried to give this program time, but it isn't going to happen. Four years and this is the "progress"? I'm done supporting Grant. 1 step forward and 2 steps back has been our progress the last 16 months.

    Fire him now. Let whoever raises their hand first run the team until our season is ended at the SEC tourney. Get a coach to "babysit" the program for 1 season and hire Bruce Pearl the second the NCAA will allow it. He effed up but he'd turn our program around rapidly. Put a clause in his contract that any significant NCAA trouble and he's fired on the spot.

    Bingo. Our big men, or lack of, are killing us. It wouldn't hurt to recruit a deadly shooter also. Is Jared Sina still available? Also, how good is Jimmie Taylor?

    I'm going to delete that from the original post cause its distracting from the topic. I blame the refs for tonight cause they let Auburn foul us so much that our players quit trying. I blame Grant for us losing. Don't let that be lost.

    I think Taylor got his 5 stars off of his ability to rebound and defend. Not so much his offensive game, which if true is really bad cause this coaching staff will never teach him any low post moves.
