This will be in the notebook, but ..
The University of Alabama and Georgia State football teams will play on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, UA Director of Athletics Mal Moore announced Wednesday. Information on ticket sales will be announced at a later date.
Alabama and Georgia State will be meeting for the second time as the Crimson Tide took a 63-7 victory over GSU on November 18, 2010, in a Thursday night game at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Much of the 2013 Alabama football schedule is not finalized. However, the Tide and Virginia Tech will meet in Atlanta for the 2013 season opener in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome on August 31, 2013.
Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Why? No reason for us to play a 1AA school. Why not schedule a Sunbelt team? We'll still win by a ton. The only good thing I see from a game like this is giving the walk ons and scout team players some playing time in a real game. Is that why we're playing them?
good to go back to ATL for VTech on the other hand
Georgia State moves up and is playing in the Sun Belt next season.
Chris beat me to it

You might as well play South Alabama instead. help another state school raise some money.
Didn't take them long to move up.
I still don't like the game but I guess we are playing VT in ATL, which is awesome, and scheduling some pastries is going to happen. Oh well...
On Alabama: CeCe Jefferson - "It was a bunch of beautiful women..." Reggie Ragland - "oh the females of course..."
All I will say is that I am not a fan of these games. RTR
Still don't care for this game. I understand it's an another home game for the school and a "breather" for the team. But a game like this is crap for the fans. JMO
Strange date for the game, you would think it would have been in the first three or four weeks, or right before the auburn game.
Strength of sch. starts to count in 2014, might as well get it out of our system. I understand why we play these games but soon it will start to matter.
We play in the toughest conference in the country and we've been scheduling top 10 opponents to open the season. You can't make every single game on the schedule a tough team. That's not fair to the players.
When have we had an SOS problem? I understand Pac 12, big east, big 10. Those are the schools that need to get aggressive which they are, see Wisky. We still have our conference plus our marquee opponent. We win all that, we'll be in the ship....every time.
Agreed 100%. But if these other conferences start playing tough opponents then we will have to step it up as well. I am not saying we need to play top 10 teams every week but the Georgia states and the western Carolinas may not cut it in the future.
Georgia State? You Are kidding me. I don't understand why we play these cupcake games. I bet this game won't be a sell out.
We've sold out every game since 1988
Not a fan why? Cant we play Duke or Boston College or Northwestern something new!
Well.. You won't see 101,000 in the seats for this game...I bet the students leave at the end of
the 1st quarter rather than at halftime too.
This would serve as a Week#6 bye week for us before the meat of the schedule.
Yep. Look at FSU, ND,Oregon, Texas etc.. Every school schedules a supposedly give me unless your auburn(don't think they have any on their schedule lol!!)
