This is just breaking, Atlanta city officials and the Falcons owner have agreed on financing terms for new $1 billion stadium

Crazy amount of money to be spent on a football stadium...... especially when the dome isn't that old.
Was at the bama vs. clemson game in 2008 and i thought the Ga. dome was pretty nice. Whats up with this?

What's even dumber is that, as of about 2 weeks ago, the plan was to build an open-air stadium. That should really bode well for the Falcons in January when it's 25 degrees outside.
The Dome is awesome because...well...it's a freakin' dome. This year's SECCG was the best atmosphere I've ever been a part of. Part of that is the noise/comfort level of being inside.
Imagine what the 4:30 chik-fil-a kickoff is gonna feel like. Itll be hot as balls right after the hottest part of the day.

Why am I not surprised that a bunch of rich old men are dropping a good looking 21 year old for something younger and prettier
The Dome does not have a lot of the big time money makers that other domes have. Blank wanted more luxury suits and such to sell.
I can say from my experience the Dome at the 200 level (in the endzone parts) was pretty cramped and not that nice at all. I am talking concourse area and such. It wasn't like what they have on the 100 level. The place isn't old but they have made a lot of improvements in the way they build domes and stadiums now since the Dome was built.
All that said, when you put in a 50-50 team split into that place where it is rather small and you are pretty much on top of the field, it is the most electric atmosphere there is. The UGA SECCG was great just like the 08 and 09 UF games. It was amazing and for that I love the Dome. Just on that basis alone I prefer games there then in Dallas which clearly has the nicer, newer venue. But the way the GA just pumps in excitement whether it has been the SECCG or the Chick-Fil-A kickoffs, you can't beat it.
These stadium's make their money off the luxury suites, the ones at the dome suck. I've read that Blank has agreed to invest $15 million in the surrounding area as well so hopefully it also makes the area a little safer and more enjoyable.
Arthur Blank has made it clear that he wants all kinds of events to held in new stadium (Final Fours, etc.), so I'm sure that this will be a new dome, probably a retractable roof.
