Christopher Walsh covers Alabama football for BamaOnline, 247Sports, and is the author of 18 books.
Saban expected to join the broadcast at the top of the hour.
Saban has joined the show.
First question from Eli: How do you best handle distractions?
Saban basically says it's a bad question.
They showed players a video of Mariano Rivera today about him saying you can't try to do too much, and when he takes the field he's focussed on three outs.
Saban then says that the first day in Miami was a distraction. "I stay out of the lobby," but they've re-centered and re-foccused. They're ready to play.
Savage: AJ probably improved the most during bowl practices, is there someone who stands out so far?
Saban says that the team has essentially over-achieved considering the lack of seniors. The team has improved and embraced challenges.
Can't really pick out one ...
No new injuries.
Bell a pre-game decision. On verge of returning.
Saban asked if he's wearing an orange shirt. He immediately said he thought it was pinkish/red.
Saban said the first practice in Florida didn't have much urgency, and the Florida game reminded him of the 2008 team that lost to Utah. Basically said they had a "Come to Jesus" moment with a meeting and they've practiced well since.
He's in a good mood ...
chris was that a barner trying to be funny asking for a orange shirt?
What happens to everybody else has nothing to do with us, understand?”
No - more like a fan who was "Um, that's not orange is it?" It was a lighting thing.
Saban says they expect Notre Dame to try and speed things up at some point. The extra prep time has helped them get used to some of the Irish's versatile players.
I like a Coach in a good mood - two nights away from kickoff
Saban assures fans that he's not going anywhere. Calls the NFL talk "scuttlebutt."
Then says he's not sure what scuttlebutt is, but that's what that talk is.
(Eli uses a different word, "hooey" -- honestly, I'm not sure how to spell that).
who is this idiot asking about what he said to the team after the A&M game??? Geez man, we are playing ND this week
Funny, one of Saban's old college roommates is there and asked about how much leeway McCarron has to make changes.
They have a number of plays in which AJ has to make a decision based on what he sees.
Thinks AJ is good enough he could actually call his own plays.
Tom Roberts asks the person who asked the question if Saban was a good quarterback, and he responds that he was a very good athlete.

Key elements to the game:
Tackling after long layoff
Start of the third quarter
Closing remarks, tells fans he hopes they appreciate being here a third time in four year and they're going to do everything they can to bring the title home.
Did he talk much about the team meeting?
Well, yea of course we appreciate that coach...umm that's a weird statement, no? Maybe in jest.
I hope we don't come out flat.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present.”
Maybe coach thinks he's spoiled us
Coach hinting toward a raise? lol
LOL! As luck would have it, I am spending the night with a scout troop on the USS Alabama. In front of me as I read this thread is a poster on the bulkhead translating "Sailor Slang" to "Landlubber". The last term on the list is "scuttlebutt"- which is sailor slang for "a drinking fountain or a rumor."
Old Soldiers never die...
Hope Coach and the boys bring that Title home!
I like that he's in a good mood-hopefully he'll be in a great mood after the game! :)
Underrated post right here! That's great! Haha
