Halftime notes from Alabama sports information:
GAME CAPTAINS: Alabama’s captains for the Tennessee game were Carson Tinker, Barrett Jones and Jesse Williams. Tennessee won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.
TIDE 55-3 UNDER SABAN WHEN LEADING AT THE HALF: Alabama leads Tennessee, 23-10, at halftime. The Crimson Tide is 55-3 when leading at halftime under head coach Nick Saban.
FIRST HALF SCORING: Alabama has helped its own cause over the last few seasons by not trailing while entering the locker room at the half. The Tide has either held a lead or been tied entering the intermission in 27 straight games. Over that span UA has outscored the opposition, 540-114 in the first half. The last time the Tide trailed at the half was at South Carolina on Oct. 9, 2010.
20 OR MORE IN THE FIRST HALF: Alabama has scored 20 or more points in every first half this season. The 23 first half points against Tennessee is the second lowest on the year. (21 vs. Western Kentucky, Sept. 8)
FIRST QUARTER POINTS: Alabama has scored in every first quarter this season, outscoring its opponents, 90-3. The field goal by Tennessee was the first points surrendered by the Tide in the opening quarter this season.
SCORING STREAK CONTINUES: With the Amari Cooper 23-yard touchdown in the first quarter, Alabama raised its current total of consecutive games in which it scored to 149. The 149 straight games mark the longest streak in program history.
COOPER SHINES IN FIRST HALF: Alabama freshman Amari Cooper recorded six catches for 120 yards with a touchdown in the first half against Tennessee. The 120 yards are a career high and marks the first time the newcomer has eclipsed 100 yards. His 23-yard touchdown was his team-leading fourth on the year.
MCCARRON PASSES WITHOUT AN INTERCEPTION: AJ McCarron continues to build his school record of passes without an interception. After passing Brodie Croyle’s mark of 190 passes last game, McCarron heads into halftime with 232 passing attempts without an interception.
TURNING TURNOVERS INTO SCORES: Alabama has taken advantage of turnovers this season. The Crimson Tide has forced 19 turnovers in 2012 and converted them into 14 touchdowns or 104 points. With the first half interception against Tennessee, Alabama has scored 10 touchdowns off 12 interceptions.
