You guys run this site like Coach Saban runs the program. Explains why it is the best.
Lucky, it would be intresting to see rankings of players tracked throughout their college career. You could measure whether or not the kid lived up to the potential he displayed in highschool. This would also give you the ability to measure how a class as a whole panned out in comparison to other school's classes. Not sure if this is in the " too hard to do" category, but it would be fun to look at and would fuel much discussion on the boards.
I wonder if the nfl wouldn't be intrested Something like that as you would have basically collected a history of the kid from highschool thru college. Measuring his progress or lack thereof for numerous years. Great data to have when making a multimillion dollar decision on said kid.

We have specs drawn up for a college player ranking and college player ranking index. The idea is to rank the players throughout their entire career -- preps to pros. We will be able to calculate a talent index at the college level and also a recruiting index. We have the specs completed its just a matter of getting the builds started. We have so many products to build over the next two years. Obviously, we are very happy to be wrapping up the essentials (core network infrastructure) and get to the next gen stuff.

24/7 did this strictly so they could brag about how good their evaluators are...and I love it. Good job Lucky! You are extremely business savvy.

Lucky, awesome ideas being shared here! Thanks for giving us recruiting nerds something to look forward to over the next year. My vision for some of these tools (scenario generator, talent index, etc.) would be to compare teams in their current state on game day. So when that random matchup of USF vs. ECU comes up in my college football pool, I can come straight to this site and get an instant comparison of their going-in talent that would basically be a cumulative talent index of everyone on their roster. For example, Alabama's cumulative talent index might be 3,120 (780*4), and Virginia Tech's might be somewhere around 2,960 (740*4) on paper. Then you could filter it by starters, offense vs. defense, special teams, and so on and so forth.
You are exactly right.
The thought is to be able to compare:
Team Talent Index (based on college player rankings, probably the top 40ish for each school
Team Recruited Talent Index (index based on their recruiting index)
Team Pro Talent Index (pro rankings sorted by college)
You can use all three for different purposes and maintain a combined total for the "Program Talent Index". This is were we are going. As well as Assistant Coaches, head coaches, etc. There's so much we can do once we have the data and the various rankings. The key obviously is the accuracy of the subjective data, and we feel good about this especially with the launch of the 247Composite.
Plus, there's a lot of stuff we can do with a 247Composite Draft index. Alot to look forward to over the next 2-3 years.
Govols247 reporter Wes Rucker said it best, "Recruiting (Rankings & Ratings) might always be an art, but if anyone turns it into a science, it'll be us."
Lucky, I have a very minor suggestion. On my iPad and iPhone, when I look at the top 247 or composite list, I can see a list of the players but not which school they are committed to like on my laptop. Will that be something that might be added for mobile devices in the future so you don't have to click on the prospect to see which school they are committed to but can just see on the main list? Thanks for such a great product!
You guys are way ahead of us. Great to know your working on this type stuff. This will Seperte u from the rest of the industry. Thanks for all you guys do.
